The UNESCO recently designated the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano as a biosphere reserve (BR) in 2015. On the reserve territory, it is possible to rediscover the constitutive elements of this environmental, socioeconomic and historical-cultural space. In particular, the existence of different stratifications of social entrepreneurship represents a valuable element that the biosphere is expected to enhance and spread to other territories. In addition to consolidated social economy experiences, some organisational innovations, such as community enterprises, are in fact developing. Originating from processes of social resilience, these enterprises contribute to redefining the supply of collective interest services, by basing themselves on the regeneration of economies and place-based resources and by challenging the territorial governance models in terms of greater inclusivity.
The inside and the outside of the long age of spaces and things gives way to the age of the information. Can we still talk about physical spaces or the metaphysics of relationships has completely taken them over and we are facing the transumation of bodies and shapes into mere memory allocations? The text leaves and asks for space, by the way, for a vision that reconciles these terms. The images of the Author’s country become the metaphor of the insides and the outsides of the present for a manifesto of man’s participation in still shaping his time. However, this necessity of living still requires consant reconciliation between residing and overrunning, the identity of place and the one of relationship, the story and the tale that challenges it and wants to overcome it. Even more today, in the time of hyper-history, fully and everywhere told, it becomes necessary, so that its hyper-facts do not simply decree its end. This goal requires a paradigm shift of the terms property, citizenship and community within a new urban and institutional design.
