FROM BOOK TO RPG: CONNECTIONS BETWEEN LITERARY ART AND DIGITAL GAMES IN EDUCATION Abstract: Many theoretical and practical approaches about textual genres and teaching contribute to the production of lines of thought regarding the connection between literary art and digital technologies, in order to generate new teaching and learning processes. The use of digital technologies has created a new way of reading based on non-linearity, that is, there is not a fixed reading order. Readers and neo-readers have got used to a kind of reality made of multiple media (images, sounds, animation and videos) and texts. Thus, how is it possible to incentive reading as it uses the word as the main element? To answer that question, we have performed some studies on literature and multimodality and, as a result, we developed an adaptation of Brazilian literary texts by using RPG format. In this article, we present the version of the literary-classic “The Alienist”, by Machado de Assis. We can conclude that multimodal technologies play an important role in education, mainly when it is integrated to the literary and digital arts, and the development of new learning objects must be considered as an effective way of improving reading and literacy among students. Keywords: Literary Art. Digital Games. RPG. Education.
