Resumo: Os sálios eram considerados um dos sacerdócios mais antigos de Roma. A dança era um elemento profundamente vinculado ao sacerdócio, sendo considerada sua característica fundamental. A segunda peculiaridade e a arma mais importante atribuída aos sálios eram, no entanto, os ancilia, os escudos sagrados conservados na Regia, os quais, de fato, constituíam a causa fundamental do sacerdócio. Este artigo apresenta um estudo dos sacerdócios dançarinos de Marte, os sálios, e a vida religiosa da Roma antiga no mês de março.
