The structural reliability analysis allows us to orient the maintenance operations in function of the influence of parameter uncertainties. The coupling of finite element with reliability methods is the only tool allowing us to analyse real structure with complex behaviour. However, this coupling implies some numerical difficulties which decrease the use of the reliability methods. In this work, two mechanical-reliability coupling methods are proposed and applied to the cooling tower of a nuclear power plant. In the reliability study, two failure scenarios have been considered : the serviceability limit state defined by excessive cracking and the ultimate limit state defined by elastic-plastic failure of the shell. The results allow us to identify the roles of different variables on the structural integrity. MOTS-CLÉS : fiabilité, aéro-réfrigérants, couplage mécano-fiabiliste, surface de réponse.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
