A new species of Coespeletia from the páramos of Mérida (Venezuela) is described here. This species, named Coespeletia palustris, is found in a few marshy areas of the páramo. It is closely related to C. moritziana, but differs from it in a smaller number of florets in the capitula, larger ray flowers with longer ligulae and longer linguiform appendages, smaller pollen grains, larger cypselae, ebracteate scapes, leaves and inflorescences with more whitish indumentum, larger leaf sheaths, and marshy habitat.
Se describe e ilustra el género Brargentina (Asclepiadoideae, Gonolobinae), segregado de Gyrostelma, como nuevo para la ciencia; se proponen además dos nuevas combinaciones, Brargentina bornmulleri (Schltr. ex Malme) Morillo et H. A. Keller, y Gyrostelma oxypetaloides var. grazielae (Fontella) Morillo et H. A. Keller. Adicionalmente, se incluye una clave que permite reconocer Brargentina de los géneros afines o de aquellos con los cuales ha sido relacionado.
Matelea anomala Morillo, Meve & Liede (Apocynaceae, Asclepiadeae, Gonolobinae) is here described and illustrated. The new taxon, known only from a single locality in eastern central Bolivia, is characterized by very small flowers with a campanulate corolla and recurved, abaxially pubescent and not ocellate corolla lobes, an annular corona with fimbriate-crenulate margins, and a terete stipe carrying the gynostegium. The new species is recognized in Matelea Aubl. s. str., for which a generic description is provided as well as a key to the species occurring in Bolivia.
Phaeostemma surinamensis Morillo & Krings, sp. nov., a new species of Apocynaceae (Asclepiadoideae, Gonolobinae) is described and illustrated, and the new combination Phaeostemma fucata (Woodson) Morillo & Krings, comb. nov., is made. The new species, known only from a lowland wet forest of Suriname, seems to be closely related to P. fucata, which is an endemic to Ptari-tepui, a sandstone mountain in the southeastern edge of the Venezuelan Guayana.
