Dieses Heft, seinerzeit unter der Überschrift "Das Schulbuch im Bildungswesen " angekündigt, erscheint mit Beiträgen, die -vornehmlich schulbuchbezogen -den Umgang mit Texten thematisieren, jedoch bewußt nicht nur unter schulpädagogischem Aspekt. Das hat seinen Grund weniger in subjektiven Befangenheiten des Herausgebers als vielmehr in objektiven Notwendigkeiten künftiger Schulbuchforschung. Denn mit den hier zusammengestellten Beiträgen wird aufmerksam gemacht auf neue Ansätze und Fragestellungen, die in wissenschaftlicher Schulbucharbeit derzeit zu beobachten sind oder doch für diese nutzbar gemacht werden könnten und sollten. Herkömmliche Schulbuchforschung, die sich unter fachwissenschaftlichem und fachdidaktischem Aspekt vornehmlich auf die informatorische Dimension von Schulbüchern konzentriert, hat zweifellos ihre Verdienste und wird hierdurch nicht einfach überflüssig. Aber angesichts der Tatsache, daß Schulbücher immer häufiger (und nicht selten gezielt) zum Gegenstand und/oder Mittel bildungs-und gesellschaftspolitischer, speziell: partei-und wahlkampfpolitischer Auseinandersetzungen (gemacht) werden, erscheint es nicht länger vertretbar, die politische Dimension dieser didaktischen Medien -die ja zugleich audi eine Art von Massenmedien sind! -bei Schulbuchuntersuchungen außer Acht zu lassen. Auffällige Trends und dominante Aspekte des außerschulischen Umgangs mit Schulbuchtexten beleuchtet daher einleitend der Erziehungs-und Politikwissensdiaftler GERD STEIN.
