The 2,750m-long Chacao Bridge, South America’s longest suspension bridge, will connect mainland Chile with the country’s largest island Chiloe. The three-tower suspension bridge will have main spans over 1km in length (one 1055 m and the other 1155 m). The central pylon with inverted V shape shown in the reference design has been modified by SYSTRA. The bridge being located close to an active seismic fault, particular care was considered on seismic robustness, and many specific seismic analysis were performed. The total length of the suspended steel superstructure is 2494 m and the weight about 21,000 tons. The bridge girder is continuous from the South pylon to the North abutment.

The Moolchand bridge is located on the Delhi metro line 3 extension. It crosses a highway and a roadway with a high traffic.

No intermediate pier could be placed on the highway, so a long span was required. The clearance was limited, so SYSTRA proposed an extradosed bridge, with the following spans: 51 - 65.5 - 51m. About half of the bridge is curved in plane view.

The deck is nearly the same box-girder prestressed deck as for the typical spans, in order to use the same precast segments formwork for construction optimization, and also for a better architectural continuity. The pylons and the deck are embedded with the main piers. The main span was built by cantilever.

The A1-M1 Link Road is a 1 km highway project, currently under construction in Mauritius. The project will cross the Grand River North West Valley, a 90 m deep gorge, with a 3-span extradosed bridge.

The island of Mauritius is subject to major cyclonic winds and the gorge being crossed needed to be adequately accounted for when assessing the wind effect on the bridge. A detailed wind climate study of the project site was conducted to derive wind buffeting loads for the design of the bridge.

In addition, particular geotechnical stability issues encountered at the cliffs on either side of the gorge, dictated a non-optimum span distribution which required a complex arrangement of temporary stay cables.

When complete, the bridge will be a key component of the A1-M1 Link Road Project and will link the existing A1 Road and M1 Motorway, improving connectivity on the West Coast of the Island.

One of the longest marine bridges in the world will be in service this year. The total length is 48,5km including Main and Doha links. The construction was started on beginning of 2013, the inauguration is planned on November 2018. This bridge is named after the late Emir "Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah", in power between 1977 and 2006.

For this project, Systra has proposed and designed innovative solutions: (i) using whole prefabricated prestressed 60m spans, transported and installed by floating crane or by launching gantry, (ii) using pre-tensioning prestressing in both directions; longitudinally in the bottom slab and webs and transversally in the top slab, and (iii) using monopile system which reduces the impact on marine fauna and improves the safety and the construction schedule.
