Goal: This paper presents a case study in which the practice of Internal Process Safety Audit of the studied company needed to develop a system of remote audits during the COVID-19 pandemic.Design / Methodology / Approach: The system was analyzed in the light of recent theoretical references, having all its phases described, as well as its results and future prospects. Results:The systematic approach involved the development of specific procedures for planning and carrying out audits using a digital platform. The practice was implemented from March 2020 through August 2021. It was approved by the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) and is currently used as a reference for other operators in oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) in Brazil. Limitations of the investigation:The choice of a unique case study, restricted to a practice adopted since the beginning of the pandemic, brought some theoretical-methodological limitations. The authors chose to adopt participant observations due to the inclusion of one of the authors in the process of conducting the audits. Practical implications:The main contribution of this study focuses on the results of the critical analyses carried out to find the strengths and opportunities for improvement that could be adopted by organizations that have similar processes. Originality / Value:The added value of this study refers to the scope of the remote audit, as it is about Process Safety. The studies presented so far refer mostly to remote certification audits or maintenance of the quality management system, with emphasis on ISO 9001.
University libraries provide an important service to society, contributing to spread knowledge and cultivating new talents in the academic environment. The main objective of this article is to perform a review of the literature on efficiency assessments in the context of university libraries. The databases Web of Science and Scopus were adopted as reference to search for papers in the aforementioned context and identify the methodologies used and perspectives set out by different authors. A complementary search was also made on Google Scholar to obtain additional articles. In sum, 34 papers were found to compose the core of analyzed publications. As result, we observed that nearly 90% of the papers use Data Envelopment Analysis to assess the efficiency of university libraries and other methodologies with the same proposal were identified. Moreover, the variables used in these publications were analyzed, contributing to the mapping of main inputs and outputs that directly affect the services of university libraries. Furthermore, other characteristics were also considered, such as: temporal placement of publications and countries with the largest production of papers. Finally, based on the results of this study, further researches are suggested. Keywords: Academic libraries. Evaluation methods. Bibliographical revision. Resumo As bibliotecas universitárias prestam um importante serviço à sociedade, contribuindo para difundir o conhecimento e cultivar novos talentos dentro do ambiente acadêmico. In organizational management, operational performance and the maturity level of processes should be considered for improving quality and productivity. The present research has the overall objective of analyzing the level of maturity of the purchasing process of bibliographic material, developed in the university libraries of a Federal University. Based on the overall objective, we aim to identify maturity models used in process management in the scientific literature, as well as proposing a way of collecting and treating the perception of maturity of the purchasing process of bibliographic material. To achieve these objectives, we adopted as methodological procedures the bibliographic research in the SciELO, SCOPUS, and DOAJ bases and the case study on the perception of maturity of the purchasing process of books from the university libraries, using the interview and closed questionnaire. The questionnaire was applied to 40 staff members of the system of university libraries. The results indicate that the majority of activities carried out for the purchase of books present levels of maturity above Level 1. This shows that the processes performed in libraries for the purchase of books are defined, planned, and controlled, although there is a considerable number of aspects that can be improved. In terms of relevance for library management, the research intends to provide subsidies for the planning and management of the purchasing process of bibliographic material and the optimization of resources, as well as understanding and assessing the process carried out, identifying its maturity levels.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
