The channel assignment problem (CAP) in cellular networks is concerned with the allocation and reuse of the frequency spectrum to the base stations in such a way that both the interference constraints and the traffic requirements of the cells are met. In this paper, we apply a reactive tabu search based method to solve the CAP and compare this approach with the classical tabu search as well as genetic algorithm based approaches in the literature. 1Index Terms-Channel assignment problem, frequency assignment problem, tabu search, reactive tabu search.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
