Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which was discovered as a result of unexplained cases of pneumonia in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization on 11 March 2020 (WHO, 2020).Because the causes of COVID-19, the routes of transmission and the course of the disease are unknown, there has been uncertainty in all areas of life in addition to the disease posing as a serious threat to public health. Considering this, health care professionals, who are a major force in combating the pandemic and work amid high-risk conditions, undertake an imperative task. Hipertansiyon tedavisinde, ilaç tedavisine ek olarak veya tek başına nonfarmakolojik önlemlerin de önemli bir yeri vardır. Bilinçsizce kullanılan Tamamlayıcı Alternatif Tedavi (TAT)'ler hastalık tablosunun ağırlaşmasına ve ortaya çıkan yan etkiler nedeniyle organ fonksiyon bozukluklarına neden olabilmektedir. Araştırma, hipertansiyonu olan bireylerin TAT kullanma durumlarını belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. YÖNTEMLER: Tanımlayıcı tipteki araştırma 347 esansiyel hipertansiyonlu hasta ile yapılmıştır. Verilerin toplanmasında bireylerin demografik özellikleri ve TAT kullanma durumlarını belirlemek amacı ile anket formu kullanılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde sayı, yüzdelik, kikare testi kullanılmıştır. BULGULAR: Araştırma sonucunda, çalışma kapsamındaki bireylerin %68.9'unun kadın, %30.1'in 60-69 yaş grubu arasında olduğu ve %83.6'sının evli olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Hastaların %52.7'sinin TAT yöntemi kullandığı, medeni durum ve gelir düzeyi ile TAT kullanma durumu arasında ki ilişki istatistiksel olarak anlamsız iken(p>0.05), yaş, cinsiyet, aile tipi, eşlik eden kronik hastalık, ikamet edilen yer ve eğitim durumu ile TAT kullanma durumu arasındaki ilişkinin istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu (p SONUÇ: Hipertansiyon hastaları TAT yöntemlerini sık kullandıkları için hemşireler hipertansif bireylerde TAT kullanımını belirlemelidir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Hipertansiyon, tamamlayıcı ve alternatif tedavi SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: This study was carried out as a descriptive study in order to examine the use of complementary and alternative treatment in the patients with hypertension. METHODS: This descriptive study was conducted with 347 patients. The data was collected by using questionnaire consisting of the information about the patient's demographic characteristics and using state of complementary and alternative treatment. Data that was collected from the study was analyzed by using means, percentage and chi-squared test. RESULTS: The result of the study has shown that 52.7% of the patients use complementary and alternative treatment, marital status and income with use of complementary and alternative treatment were found not to be statistically significant (p>0.05), age, gender, family type, in addition to hypertension availability chronic disease, residing and education with use of complementary and alternative treatment were found not to be statistically significant (p<0.05). CONCLUSION: The patients having hypertension use complementary and alternative treatment. Nurses should determine the use of complementary and alternative treatment for individuals with chronic disease. Background Nursing students should gain cultural knowledge and skills necessary for providing care to all types of patients. Aim This study aimed to determine problems faced by nursing students who care for refugee patients. Method The study used phenomenological qualitative design. The sample comprised 25 nursing students who cared for refugee patients in a clinic. Data were analysed using Colaizzi’s seven‐step method following focus group interviews. Results Two themes were identified for the interviews: (i) language barrier: insufficient care and (ii) students’ perspectives on being a refugee. Furthermore, three subthemes were also identified by analysis of the interviews: (i) superficial communication and insufficiency in psychological support, (ii) health problems in difficult living conditions and (iii) unchanged basic human needs and unmet care needs. Conclusions Nursing students find it difficult to care for refugee patients, but nursing education programmes based on culture care improve their knowledge and perceptions and the quality of care they provide to patients from different cultures. Implication for nursing and health policy In a multicultural society, nursing students must recognize cultural differences. Consequently, a multicultural education programme helps lay the groundwork for successful integration of nursing students in new cultures.

Öz Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the change of restrictions applied in the COVID-19 pandemic in the diet behaviors, physical activities and stress levels of adults in Turkish population with this study. Materials and Methods: This study, designed as a crosssectional type, was conducted publicly with people who are 18 years old and over this age and living in different provinces of Turkey between 9-18 June 2020. Due to the measures of the pandemic process, the data were collected by electronic survey from 579. Participant Information Form, Dietary Behavior Form, International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form and a four-item form of the Perceived Stress Scale were used to collect the research data. Results: Of the participants, 69.7% consumed their favorite foods more, 70.4% increased the frequency of snacking after meals, 74.8% increased tea and coffee consumption, 65.1% increased consumption of sugary foods such as chocolate and sweets, 68.9% increased flour and bakery products, and 67.9% increased the fruit consumption. 54.1% of the participants, 56.3% of the women and 48.1% of the men were inactive. Perceived stress level of women was higher and the difference was significant. Conclusion: During pandemics period, that the popular foods were consumed more, nearly half of the participants in the study and more than half of the women spent the whole day in a closed environment and more than half of the participants were inactive.
