Pulmonary herniation is an uncommon phenomenon. It has been described sporadically in obscure case reports and rare case series. Owing to its sparse occurrence, a calibrated algorithm for its management does not exist. Even then, the popular consensus advises surgical management comprising prosthetic mesh repair. Hereby, authors report a case of a 24-year-old male, who developed left lung herniation after blunt trauma to the chest wall. Non Contrast Computed Tomography (NCCT) of chest revealed herniation of left lung through 3rd intercostal space, a hernia defect of 1.8 cm and a small left pneumothorax. Patient was managed conservatively with intercostal drainage and was discharged on day 5 of admission. This case report aims to delineate the conditions where conservative management of lung hernias can be undertaken successfully.
Critical offshore pipelines require extremely low D/t (Outer diameter to wall thickness ratio) pipes, that pose a manufacturing challenge using conventional practices and operational toolings. Such pipes are most often manufactured through the seamless route, due to the D/t ratio. But seamless pipe are more expensive as compared to welded pipes, along with having higher lead times due to fewer manufacturers. There is also a concern with the uniformity of wall thickness throughout the pipe body due to the manufacturing process, but with an advantage of better properties citing homogenous composition due to absence of a weld seam. Though in the last couple of decades, owing to advances in the welding technology, the weld seam of a welded pipe has proved to be superior to the base metal plates/coils in terms of its strength integrity. To manufacture such pipes through the LSAW (Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded) process requires major overhauling and process modifications at practically all the stages of the process flow. The low diameter and high wall thickness become very demanding when it comes to bending the plate and then welding (SAW) from the inside due to space constraints. This paper describes in detail the challenges faced and overcoming of the difficulties in manufacturing an 18″ diameter, 35 mm wall thickness LSAW pipe (D/t ratio of 13) for a major oil & gas player, by development of new designed toolings for various equipment like plate crimping, pipe forming and mechanical expander; new lubrication oil; and optimizing the process parameters, as the major factors contributing to success. The tooling design modifications were done in-house, along with the development of a new lubrication oil and its treatment in plant. This enabled Welspun Corp to surpass the equipment capacities prescribed by the OEMs, and set a new benchmark in the industry for the production of extremely low D/t welded pipes, with excellent mechanical properties along with impeccable pipe dimensions.
Background: Choroid plexus papillomas (CPPs) are benign slow-growing tumors with the most common site as the choroid plexus of the lateral ventricle in children. These are highly vascular solid tumors which have classical diagnosis in contrast-enhanced computerized tomography (CECT) and contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (CEMRI). These require early management because of their secondary symptoms related to hydrocephalus and others due to tumoral compression. Case Report: We present a 10-month-old male child with abnormal eye movements and fever following head trauma seventeen days before. Ultrasound of the brain revealed the hyperechoic mass in the right lateral ventricle. CECT and CEMRI diagnosed as a case of choroid plexus papilloma with gross hydrocephalus. This was a silent CPP which came to limelight following head trauma. Ventriculoperitoneal shunt was placed for the decompression of the ventricular system and was advised for subsequent surgical management. Conclusion: Atypical presentations of CPP can confuse in making the diagnosis and this delay can be harmful to the patient. Early diagnosis of CPP is very important as these are slow-growing tumors which can lead to various complications if late diagnosis is made. Cross-sectional modalities such as CECT and CEMRI are the most valuable diagnostic modality tools for the early diagnosis
Timetable scheduling is a problem that concerns every teaching institution. Every semester or year a new timetable must be produced to take account of faculty, student and course changes causing a necessarily large amount of work. All institutions face a considerable number of difficulties especially before the start of academic semesters in colleges due to the increased number of students and courses. Also, visualizing the timetable needs drastic amount of work like to print them on papers and display it then to its respective classes, that too in colleges need to be secured since it got snatched away by the students there. And timetable updation require to follow full steps as followed during its creation in traditional paper-based method but here using timesync, it makes everything so smooth that it need to only update it with its user-friendly UI and no need to follow other steps as in orthodox method. The main objective of this study is to develop a web-based application for timetable scheduling and visualizing for schools and colleges. However, some work and studies still need to be done to make this system further smart and consistent as described in the recommendations section.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
