ABSTRACTAelurostrongylosis in cats is caused by the nematode Aelurostrongylus abstrusus, a relatively undiagnosed cosmopolitan parasite. This parasite is found in the bronchi and pulmonary arteries of the host and infection in healthy individuals is subclinical and may lead to interstitial bronchopneumonia, dyspnea and respiratory discomfort in massive infections. In this article we report a case of aelurostrongylosis in an apathetic and anorexic domestic cat with no respiratory signs. Another objective is to alert the veterinary community to increase the prevalence of parasites in domestic cats, as well as their ability to live relatively in harmony with the infection, making diagnosis a complex and challenging task.
