Transtorno de ansiedade é considerado um problema de saúde pública. Faz-se necessário, então compreender, nos artigos publicados, os sinais e sintomas de ansiedade da pessoa no período pré-operatório e como a equipe de saúde atua para minimizá-los. Pela revisão de literatura, na modalidade integrativa, foram acessadas as bases de dados MEDLINE, LILACS, BDENF e INDEX PSICOLOGIA. Incluíram-se os artigos publicados nos últimos dez anos, disponíveis em língua inglesa, portuguesa e espanhola. Foram encontrados 123 artigos, com 42 duplicados, sendo selecionados 26 periódicos, com prevalência de ensaio clínico e classificação Qualis A2, principalmente da base de dados MEDLINE e categoria profissional enfermagem, com maior número de publicações. Os 26 artigos selecionados abordaram os sinais e sintomas de ansiedade, seguidos da caracterização dos participantes segundo a faixa etária. Foi usada uma escala de avaliação para mensurar a ansiedade em relação a vários tipos de procedimentos cirúrgicos. A partir da análise desses artigos, emergiram três categorias temáticas: Estratégias implementadas pela equipe de saúde diante do transtorno de ansiedade, Estratégias de atuação não implementadas pela equipe de saúde, porém utilizadas nas intervenções e Utilização de escalas como estratégia para intervenção. Propõe-se que estudos sejam realizados para que a assistência ao paciente cirúrgico seja mais qualificada, no sentido de minimização da ansiedade no momento pré-operatório e nos momentos intra e pós-operatório, a fim de que haja menos eventos mal sucedidos e melhor reabilitação biopsicossocial, dos pacientes considerando as necessidades de saúde e a integralidade do cuidado.
