Las noticias falsas y la desinformación han sido, desde tiempos memorables, temas de debates en los medios de comunicación. Estos se ven enfrascados por la inmediatez en el proceso de la construcción de la realidad y los intereses, por señalar algunos de los condicionantes que el sistema genera. Internet actúa como un “arma de doble filo”; por un lado, se evidencia una gran avalancha de información y, por otro, la carencia de credibilidad en los portales noticiosos. Por este motivo, la práctica del fact-checking se va posicionando aunque con divergentes metodologías y técnicas. Esta investigación propone un estado de los estudios generados con relación al fact-checking, para luego ofrecer un análisis de la periodicidad de contenidos que se publican en el portal web Ecuador Chequea, indagando en las distintas fuentes a las que recurre el equipo de chequeo, con el objetivo de clasificar si la información tiene o no veracidad. Con el respaldo de bases teóricas y aplicando la observación sistematizada, este trabajo aporta a las reflexiones en torno al tratamiento de noticias en el primer portal de verificación de información de Ecuador.
Con el incremento exponencial de información en Internet, los medios tradicionales han sufrido convergencias cohesionando el periodismo con el uso de redes sociales, enmarcado en la inmediatez por compartir nuevos contenidos, ocasionando que se agrave el proceso de construcción de la noticia y que la verificación de los hechos vaya quedando en el olvido. La presente investigación tiene el objetivo de identificar cómo se desarrolla el ejercicio periodístico en el la provincia de Santa Elena- Ecuador, a través la técnica de grupo focal y encuestas a la población, se ha evidenciado la necesidad de replantear bases procedimentales en el periodismo, puesto que la ciudadanía está ávida de certezas inmediatas, de lo contrario el ciudadano común construye su propia verdad con datos generados desde la desinformación
La verificación de información es parte del ejercicio periodístico, esta puede pasar por un proceso de falibilismo, sin embargo, muchos factores restan credibilidad a la profesión. El objetivo del artículo es identificar cómo la ciudadanía, en especial los futuros comunicadores, asumen la labor del ejercicio periodístico, con respecto a sus rutinas productivas, si este le brinda tratamiento al hecho noticioso, y de qué manera las personas procesan la información. Es importante destacar cómo los sujetos disciernen los contenidos noticiosos. El trabajo presenta un enfoque mixto de investigación; cuali-cuantitativo, la población objeto de estudio está conformada por estudiantes pertenecientes a dos universidades del Ecuador. Se aplicó el tipo de muestreo no probabilístico y entre las conclusiones se pueden desatacar que la credibilidad de la actividad, desde sus preceptos éticos y de responsabilidad social, está en tela de juicio. Además, el entorno digital actual está distorsionando las funciones sustantivas que conlleva la profesión, mientras tanto, la ciudadanía está optando por consumir contenidos sin profundizar en un pensamiento crítico coherente. Existe un incremento exponencial de noticias falsas y poca contrastación de información y, finalmente, la inmediatez dentro de los medios de comunicación está superando a la confirmación de los hechos que se publican. Los resultados denotan un futuro poco alentador en el entorno de esta labor, pero que con nuevos replanteamientos podrían cambiar.
<p style="text-align: justify;">Los Cultural Studies son un campo de investigación de carácter interdisciplinario y transdisciplinario, que explora las formas de producción o creación de significados y de difusión de los mismos en las sociedades actuales. Desde esta perspectiva, la creación de significado y de los discursos reguladores de las prácticas significantes de la sociedad revela el papel representado por el poder en la regulación de las actividades cotidianas de las formaciones sociales. En este trabajo se argumenta la variedad de matrices disciplinares y fuentes teóricas de los Estudios Culturales: semiótica, antropología, marxismo, entre otras. Además, se explican los desplazamientos promovidos en este campo de estudios por la apertura de nuevas áreas de indagación como el género y la raza, es decir el nuevo discurso que aparece. Todo ello responde al análisis de fuentes de información.</p>
La verificación de los hechos o fact-checking es una práctica inmersa en el periodismo que tiene como objetivo ofrecer información de calidad a los usuarios, esto a pesar de que en la actualidad el fact-checking se presenta como un nuevo ecosistema de la profesión, sin embargo, esta investigación se centra en analizar la aplicación de la verificación de datos en el medio de comunicación digital El Bacán. El objetivo fue identificar el proceso de rutinas productivas en dicho medio. El estudio se apoyó en un enfoque cualitativo, bajo una técnica de triangulación de resultados dada por el análisis teórico de varios autores, una entrevista con el director polifuncional del medio y consultas con especialistas en comunicación. Esta comparación de los datos recolectados permitió identificar que el proceso de verificación involucrado en el medio de comunicación de El Bacán se asemeja mucho a lo que proponen los autores, sin embargo, concluye que al ser un medio de comunicación que no cuenta con profesionales para la construcción de la noticia, existe la posibilidad de que cometan errores periodísticos, tanto en la producción como en el tratamiento y verificación de la información.
