Em janeiro de 2020, foi deliberado pela OMS o alerta de emergência pública de importância internacional. Tratava-se de uma nova cepa de coronavírus, denominadas de SARS-CoV-2. Em 11 de março, a situação já era classificada como uma pandemia. No Brasil, assim como no resto do mundo, a pandemia trouxe inúmeros problemas políticos, sociais e educacionais. Nesse contexto, o ensino remoto passou a ser adotado na educação superior devido ao cenário desfavorável às aulas presenciais, exigido pelo distanciamento social como modo de conter a expansão da doença. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma revisão bibliográfica narrativa sobre o uso de ferramentas digitais, no processo de ensino da Odontologia, no contexto atual da pandemia de Covid-19. Para tal, foram realizadas buscas nos sites oficiais do governo e nas plataformas: Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), Scientific Eletrônic Library Online (SCIELO) e National Library of Medicine (PUBMED). Utilizaram-se os Descritores em Ciências da Saúde: Educação em Odontologia, tecnologia educacional, Covid-19, educação à distância. Após as pesquisas, pôde-se concluir que a pandemia de coronavírus impactou o ensino superior, com enfoque no curso de Odontologia, principalmente por dispor de grande parte da sua carga horária prática presencial. A hibridização do sistema presencial e remoto se apresenta como um promissor modelo de ensino, com o intuito de otimizar aulas presenciais, por meio de reuniões e discussões de forma on-line. O sistema remoto de aulas online tornou-se um grande aliado da educação, de forma particular, diante de empecilhos, e promete manter sua aplicabilidade, mesmo pós-pandemia, sempre pautado em seu aprimoramento e em sua natureza intrinsecamente voltada para atender com coerência as diferentes peculiaridades e necessidades que demandam o processo de ensino-aprendizagem.
