The needs of agricultural production determine the direction of breeding research. The goal is to create a new competitive soybean variety adapted to local growing conditions, combining high potential productivity, resistance to major diseases, pests and low temperatures during germination. The work on creating a new variety was carried out in 2004-2016 in the selection crop rotation in the All-Russian Research Institute of Soybeans, using the classical scheme of the selection process for self-pollinating crops. As a result of long-term selection work in the conditions of the Amur Region, a new high-yielding mid-season soybean variety Zolushka with a potential yield of 3.52 t/ha was created. The new variety is characterized by resistance to low positive temperatures during the germination period (+4… 7 °C), at the optimal sowing time it exceeds the Dauria standard by 0.28 t/ha, at early dates on May 7 and 14 by 0.53 and 0.48 t/ha, respectively. It has complex resistance to pathogens and pests, provides a high yield of crude protein and fat from a unit area, exceeding the standard by 11.2%. The Zolushka variety is suitable for use for food purposes, well adapted to the difficult natural and climatic conditions of the Amur Region, its industrial use would increase the profitability of the crop cultivation in the Far East region, which would provide potential commercial attractiveness for agricultural producers and soybean processors.
