Synthesis and Characterization of HgBa2Ca0.7Dy0.3Cu2O6+δ.-In search of new superconducting cuprates, the new title phase, derived from the HgBa2CaCu2O6+δ (Hg-1212) superconductor by partial replacement of Ca by Dy, is prepared by a precursor method including repeated grindings and heat treatments. This phase, representing the main product in the compositional range HgBa2Ca1-xDyxCu2O6+δ (0.3 ≤ x ≤ 0.6) is characterized by EDS, SEM, IR, and susceptibility measurements and by Rietveld refinement of the powder XRD data. The compound is isotypic with Hg-1212 (tetragonal, P4/mmm). The absence of superconductivity is probably due to significant puckering of the copper oxide layers and a short apical Cu-O distance. -(NILSSON, G.; BRYNTSE, I.; J.
