Microwaves have proven more interesting than traditional methods for the alcoholysis with methanol of triglycerides with heterogeneous catalysis allowing better yields and conversions into FAMEs (Fatty Acids Methyl Esters) in a short time and, consequently, less energy consumption.
Asbestos reinforced with 11-47% polyphenylene sulfide is 2.5-8 times more stable than plain asbestos or asbestos-brucite composites of equivalent composition when aged in boiling concentrated alkali. SEM and Ir spectroscopy show that asbestos hydrolysis is the main cause of material loss. Composites pressed between electrodes at 1 A/cm2 in 95 °C 50% KOH however undergo principal mechanical erosion and the minimum poly phenylene sulfide load to achieve satisfactory performance is ∼ 29%.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
