Abstract-One of the major reasons to address the security aspects in MANETS is the usage of wireless transmission medium, which is highly susceptible or vulnerable to attacks. This paper proposes a way to identify parallelly different types of attacks in MANETS. This approach is highly secure as it essentially concentrates on identifying misbehaving links, number of significant packets dropped and malicious nodes parallelly. This paper shows the implementation of identification and prevention of malicious nodes launching packet dropping and message tampering attacks, using a semantic security mechanism. This security scheme is highly impossible to break, thereby making it a highly secured approach. The evaluation results demonstrate that the approach effectively detects and prevents such nodes and links in networking sessions.
The foremost concerned security issue in mobile ad hoc networks is to protect the network layer from malicious attacks, thereby identifying and preventing malicious nodes. A unified security solution is in very much need for such networks to protect both route and data forwarding operations in the network layer. Without any appropriate security solution, the malicious nodes in the network can readily act to function as routers. This will solely disturb the network operation from correct delivering of the packets, like the malicious nodes can give stale routing updates or drop all the packets passing through them. In this paper a study that will through light on such attacks in MANETS is presented. The paper also focuses on different security aspects of network layer and discusses the effect of the attacks in detail through a survey of approaches used for security purpose.

Various deployment ways of mobile ad hoc networks (MANETS) can have widely varying characteristics that have a greater impact on the behaviour of different routing protocols created for these networks. Before directly deploying the applications in such environments, it is most important for developers to understand the potential quantitative behaviour of the variations, challenges, capacity and implementation issues that support their applications. Analytical models exist to describe the behaviour of MANETS, but they are restricted to simplistic statistical models that represent either node mobility or link connectivity individually without considering the interplay of the two and other important aspects of MANETS. In this paper we are trying to analyze and study the MANET environments, challenges and other issues, which will help the researchers to understand the MANET concepts thoroughly.
