It has been shown that a composite type D section may be realized as the network of Fig. 1, the realizability condition of which depends only on 212. This condition, in the transformed frequency domain q, becomes simply that the transmission zeros must lie in the interior of a circle, and is shown graphically in Fig. 3. The new network, being the dual of the double-loop structure,fJl extends the range of the realizable composite type D section. It may realize those type D sections which are not realizable as double-loop structures.
The instrument described has a linear indication of beat‐to‐beat heart rate with an overall accuracy of ±1 beat per minute. A linear output response over the range of 30 to 270 beats per minute is achieved with a square law discharge network. Input clipping and filter circuits permit reliable operation with moderately active subjects. Details of the circuit design and its performance are discussed.
