The study was conducted on Polish Merino (143♀ and 39♂) and old-type Polish Merino sheep (176♀ and 61♂) in Brylewo flock (Wielkopolskie Province). The examined sheep were at the age of one year. Prion protein (PrP) genotype was determined in all animals. In both breeds four alleles (ARR, ARQ, AHQ, VRQ) were found. Highly significant effect of breed and insignificant impact of gender within breed was observed in regard to the frequency of occurrence of alleles and genotypes susceptible to classical scrapie in the sheep. Eight different PrP genotypes in Polish Merino and nine genotypes in old-type Polish Merino were identified. Very high frequency of ARR/ARR genotype in old-type Polish Merino and high frequency of ARR/ARQ genotype in Polish Merino were found, with relatively significant frequency of occurrence of the genotypes containing VRQ allele. In old-type Polish Merino, three animals (of both genders) had VRQ/VRQ genotype. Breeding work involving elimination of animals encoding valine at codon 136, and introduction of rams with ARR allele to the population increased the frequency of occurrence of ARR/ARR genotype and ARR allele in the population of old-type Polish Merino. To improve the distribution of the genotypes genetically resistant to scrapie in the flock of Polish Merino only rams with ARR/ARR genotype were left. This guarantees an increase in the frequency of occurrence of genotypes genetically resistant to scrapie in the offspring.
Streszczenie. Badania wykonano w gospodarstwie indywidualnym położonym w woj. warmiń-sko-mazurskim na owcach rasy wrzosówka polska (26 maciorek i 2 tryki) i polska owca długo-wełnista odmiany pomorskiej (37 maciorek i 3 tryki). Słowa kluczowe: owce, PrP, rozkład alleli i genotypów WstępPolimorfizm genu białka prionowego PrP, odpowiedzialnego za występowanie trzę-sawki u owiec, był tematem wielu opracowań naukowych, tak zagranicznych (Gombojav i in., 2003; Lühken i in., 2004; O'Doherty i in., 2001), jak i krajowych (Niżnikowski i in., 2006(Niżnikowski i in., , 2013(Niżnikowski i in., , 2014 Rejduch i in., 2009). W opracowaniach tych wykazano, że istnieje dość duże zróżnicowanie pomiędzy rasami w zakresie częstotliwości występowa-
Streszczenie. Badania przeprowadzono na materiale 431 (406♀ i 25♂) polskich owiec nizinnych trzech odmian: owcy żelaźnieńskiej, corriedale i polskiej owcy nizinnej utrzymywanych na Podlasiu. Wszystkie zwierzęta były poddane identyfikacji genu kazeiny alfa-S1 -CSN1S1. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych prac badawczych stwierdzono występowanie dwóch alleli (C i T) i trzech genotypów (CC, CT i TT). Wykazano występowanie zrównoważonej liczby alleli C i T u wszystkich badanych odmian, co przekładało się na podobny rozkład genotypów: allel T i genotyp TT wystę-powały zdecydowanie częściej niż allel C i genotypy CC oraz CT. Stwierdzono istotnie większą frekwencję allelu C i mniejszą allelu T u maciorek niż u tryczków wszystkich badanych odmian. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały, że frekwencja alleli i genotypów genu kazeiny alfa-S1 w pozycji 663 jest u badanych odmian polskich owiec nizinnych wyrównana genetycznie. Słowa kluczowe: owce, CSN1S1, rozkład alleli i genotypów WstępPodlasie charakteryzuje się utrzymywaniem polskich owiec nizinnych różnych odmian, które stanowią nadal dość liczące się pogłowie w skali kraju (Hodowla..., 2013), mimo objęcia większości z nich programami ochrony zasobów genetycznych. Aby ocenić różnorodność genetyczną wymienionych wyżej odmian owiec, wybrano gen CSN1S1. Posłużył on analizie frekwencji alleli i genotypów wielu autorom
