4‐Amino‐5‐arylpyrimidines 1 react with diethyl alkylmalonates 2 to give pyrimido[1,6‐a]pyrimidines 4 in satisfactory yields. A possible mechanistic scheme and the spectral data of the reaction products are discussed.
Several new 4-amino (or hydroxy) 5-substituted pyrimidines are prepared by the reaction of trisformylaminomethane with various substituted acetonitriles, acetamides, and corresponding esters, and the reaction results are discussed.In a previous paper,2 the synthesis of 4-amino (or hydroxy) 5-substituted pyrimidines by the reaction of trisformylaminomethane (I) with phenylacetonitriles (a) or p-nitrophenylacetamide (b) having an active methylene group was reported.
The fatty acid composition of the oil extracted from tomato seeds was determined by GLC. A urea fractionation procedure and preparative GLC were used to detect esters present in small or trace amounts. Linoleic, oleic, and palmitic acids were predominant. Odd- and even-chain length saturated acids from C12-C28 were present. Hexadecenoic, heptadecenoic, and eicosenoic acids were also detected. Minor chromatographic peaks preceding some of the saturated esters were attributed to branched acids.
The fatty acid composition of oils extracted from various parts (pericarp, seeds and stem) of the fruit of Capsicum and from samples of Greek red pepper itself were obtained by gas liquid chromatography.Samples from three different varieties of Capsicum annuum, cultivated in the region of Almopia, Greece, were taken from two crops (1967, 1968) and examined. The results are discussed. No characteristic differences in fatty acid composition of the corresponding samples of the parts of Capsicum fruit of the three Greek varieties were noticed and there was no difference between the two crops. However, considerable differences in fatty acid composition between Greek and American varieties were observed, probably due to climatic conditions.
