[fre] La statistique publique aborde le plus souvent la question de la place des individus dans la société à travers la description des statuts qui définissent leur identité au sens de l'état civil - le genre, la situation matrimoniale, la profession, la nationalité, les lieux de naissance et de résidence, etc. - et des liens de parenté et de sociabilité qui leur sont associés. Cette approche par les statuts et les rôles sociaux doit s'enrichir, au vu des transformations, ces dernières décennies, des conditions de socialisation et des modes de vie. Qu'il s'agisse du travail, de la famille, de la religion ou de l'engagement individuel, les appartenances qui liaient les individus aux institutions ou aux communautés (territoriales, professionnelles, sociales ou autres) se transforment. Ce que l'on appelle parfois la « crise des identités » contemporaine est l'objet d'interrogations récurrentes.
La conception de politiques publiques implique, avant toute chose, de définir nécessairement son objet et ses publics. Or les phénomènes associés à la pauvreté montrent que ce préalable est en réalité complexe. Cette séance de travaux dirigés proposée par Frédérique Houseaux le rappelle ici utilement.
