Improved Synthesis of 2-Cyanoaziridines and Investigations of their IsomerizationReaction of 2-bromoacrylonitrile with primary amines gives 1-alkyl-, I-aralkyl-and I-phenyl-2-cyanoaziridines (6-17) in far better yields than their synthesis from 2.3-dibromopropionitrile and primary amines. I-Benzyl-2-cyanoaziridine (1) is isomerized on heating with triethylammonium bromide to give N-benzyl-2-iminopropionitrile (2), which can be isolated under appropriate reaction conditions. 2-(Benzylamino)acrylonitrile is probably formed as an intermediate in the isomerization. 2 easily isomerizes to N-benzylidene-2-aminopropionitrile (3). Other N-substituted 2-cyanoaziridines behave in an analogous way. The isomerization corresponding to the transition 2 + 3 was observed only with N-aralkyl derivatives. The triethylammonium bromide catalyzed isomerization also occurs with 1-benzyl-2-acetyl-(29) and -2-(methoxycarbonyl)aziridine (a), but to a smaller extent than with N-substituted 2-cyanoaziridines.
Das Acrylnitril (I) reagiert mit den Aminen (II) in Gegenwart von Triäthylamin bei Raumtemperatur in 3 Tagen zu den Aziridinen (III) (82‐98% Ausbeute).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
