The purpose of this study is to compare female and male college students' academic self-efficacy. The overall sample consisted of 1,995 participants, 862 women and 1,133 men, all freshman students at the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (Autonomous University of Chihuahua). The average age is 18.18 years (SD= 0.68). This quantitative study has a survey-type, descriptive design. Differences found between men and women regarding their perceived self-efficacy, suggest that any effort to improve perceived self-efficacy must take gender into consideration.
The purpose of the present study is to compare the profiles of perceived self-efficacy in teamwork and entrepreneurship between Engineering and Social Sciences university students. The total sample consists of 1,181 participants; 592 from the Engineering field and 589 from the Social Sciences programs, with an average age of 18.43 years (SD = 0.95) and 18.38 years (SD = 0.86) respectively. A quantitative approach with a descriptive and transversal survey design was used. All the participants completed the Self-efficacy Teamwork and Entrepreneurship Scale. The results of the one-way multivariate analysis of variance, followed by the one-way univariate analysis of variance, showed that the Social Sciences students reported statistically significant (p < .05)better perceived self-efficacy, desired self-efficacy and reachable self-efficacy in teamwork than the Engineering participants. Regarding the entrepreneurship factor, the Social Sciences students reported statistically significant greater desired and reachable self-efficacy than their Engineering counterparts (p < .05). However, for all the other variables, statistically significant differences were not found (p> .05).
En este informe se detalla un sistema computarizado que permite a los investigadores construir, aplicar y tabular encuestas e ins- trumentos de los llamados “de papel y lápiz” de manera automati- zada. Además se reportan investigaciones donde se ejemplifica su uso. Los resultados de este sistema permiten considerarlo un me- dio efectivo para la construcción instrumentos de medición al po- sibilitar el almacenamiento de los datos sin etapas previas de codi- ficación, con una mayor precisión y rapidez, además de facilitar el registro del tiempo de latencia de la respuesta a cada ítem. Las pers- pectivas sobre nuevas versiones del sistema permiten pensar en ampliar los contenidos objeto de evaluación, generar sistemas ex- pertos de corrección, administración vía Internet, seleccionar los mejores ítems para determinados objetivos de evaluación (tests óptimos) o para determinadas personas (tests adaptativos informatizados).
