RESUMOaddition, it stands out for its economic, nutritional and medicinal potential, since all its parts are sources of proteins, vitamins and carotenoids (Olayemiv et al. 2016).It is a species with a good adaptability to the conditions of the Brazilian Northeast region, presenting a diversity of uses as in folk medicine; food source for humans, helping in the fight against malnutrition; fodder feed; and in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry (Andrade et al. 2016).One of the ways to maximize its agricultural production is by applying organic matter sources to
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of irrigation with saline water and phosphate fertilization on phytomass accumulation and tissue mineral composition of cowpea shoots. The research was carried out in a greenhouse utilizing randomized block design in a 5 x 3 factorial scheme consisting of five levels salinity of irrigation water (0.5 as control, 1.5, 2.5 3.5 and 4.5 dS m-1) and three doses of P2O5- (60, 100 and 140% from a recommended dose of 60 kg P2O5- ha-1), with 5 replicates. The plants were grown in pots up to flowering and then phytomass accumulation and mineral composition of cowpea (indicate cultivar name) shoot were measured. Irrigation with saline water from 0.8 dS m-1 reduced phytomass accumulation and mineral composition of cowpea plants, making the plants to be considered moderately tolerant up to EC 2.5 dS m-1. The 40% increase in recommended phosphorus dose promotes high iron and copper accumulations and, less sodium accumulation into tissues of cowpea shoot as influenced by saline stress. 60% reduction of the recommended dose of phosphate fertilizer increased the manganese and zinc accumulation of tissues of cowpea shoot under salt stress.

The acerola tree is one of the most promising fruit trees of the Brazilian fruit sector, demanding the development of studies that indicate the proper conditions to improve its production under adverse conditions. Consequently, our purpose was to evaluate the growth of Malpighia emaginata D.C in several substrates and under ascending levels of irrigation water salinity. The experiment was conducted in a 4 × 5 factorial scheme randomized block design, which comprised four substrates (S1 = soil; S2 = soil with a 10% addition of cattle manure; S3 = soil with a 10% addition of organic compounds; and S4 -soil with a 5% addition of cattle manure and a 5% addition of organic compounds) and five CEa salt levels (0.3, 1.0, 1.7, 2.7, and 3.5 dS m -1 ). The plant height and stem diameter variables were not affected by the studied factors. The interaction between salinity and the substrates affected the root growth and the build-up of the plants' fresh and dry biomass, resulting in the increase of the values obtained by the substrates containing manure and organic compounds. The seedlings' quality, represented by the height/stem diameter and aerial part/root dry mass ratios, and by the Dickson quality index, indicated that the plants produced in the substrates 2 and 3 were more vigorous.
BIOMASS AND EFFICIENCY OF THE USE OF CASTOR BRS GABRIELA WATER IRRIGATED UNDER ORGANIC FERTILIZATION ABSTRACTThe objective of this work was to evaluate the phytomass accumulation and the water use efficiency of BRS Gabriela castor bean under different levels of irrigation and organic fertilization.
