CORRELATION BETWEEN CLIMATE, SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND DENGUE IN THE MICROREGION OF MONTES CLAROS, MINAS GERAIS, BRAZIL ABSTRACTIncidence of dengue has been increasing in Brazil since the reintroduction of the virus in 1976. It is an epidemic, transmissible and complex disease, affecting populations independent of social class and is now a global concern, especially in tropical countries, where environmental conditions, particularly the climatic conditions, associated with ineffective socio-environmental policies favor the development and proliferation of vectors (mosquitoes of the species Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus). The study aimed to analyze the incidence of dengue in the Microregion of Montes Claros, Minas Gerais [Brazil], and its association with socio-environmental issues and climatic factors, specifically rainfall and temperature. Thus, we sought to relate the urban socio-environmental problem, mainly inherent to basic sanitation, precipitation and temperature with the spread of the disease. The results indicate that climatic variables (precipitation and temperature) influence the epidemiology of dengue fever, which presents higher incidences in the microregion in rainy periods and higher temperatures, as well as reduction in periods of lower temperature. Regarding socio-environmental factors, the precariousness of basic sanitation, lack of urban planning and anthropic interference in ecosystems contributes to the intensification of the problem.
