On-street parking leads to reduced road capacity and decreased traffic performance of the certain road. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the feasibility of on-street parking based on road performance. The study was conducted at Central Business District namely Peunayong, Banda Aceh. Based on the Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (IHCM) one of the performance parameter values is Degree of Saturation (DS). The data needed for calculation of DS are the geometric conditions, traffic volume and the side frictions. The results indicate that on-street parking facilities on segment 2 of Khairil Anwar Street should be evaluated, as the DS value is greater than 0.75 (unstable road condition), by changing parking patterns into a parallel configuration or eliminating parking facilities. Furthermore, the parking configuration of R.A. Kartini Street also needs to be rearranged. Despite the stable road performance, this road is uncomfortable to pass because there is only one lane remained due to unfeasible parking patterns and existence of street market along the segment. The road performance of Khairil Anwar Street (segment 1), Ahmad Yani Street, W.R Supratman Street, T.P. Polem Street, Twk. Daudsyah Street and Ratu Safiatuddin Street is in stable condition, with DS < 0.75. This indicating that on-street parking facilities can be maintained. While as for the W.R. Supratman and Ahmad Yani Street should be evaluated in year of 2019 to avoid traffic jam along this corridors.
Public transportation is widely considered more attractive in developed countries compared to developing countries, primarily due to its level of service performance, and the influencing factors vary depending on the characteristics of the place and the community. Meanwhile, passenger loyalty is essential to increase the demand for public transportation. This research aims to investigate the impact of service performance and passenger satisfaction on passenger loyalty to public bus transportation in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. The research was conducted on six Trans Koetaradja Bus corridors that connect the city and its surrounding areas, and the data was analyzed using the multiple regression method with SPSS. The results showed that that service performance and passenger satisfaction had an impact on passenger loyalty, with a correlation coefficient of 0.563. However, the determination value (R2) was only 0.317, indicating that only 31.7% of the service performance and passenger satisfaction affected passenger loyalty to the Trans Koetaradja bus. The remaining 68.3% were influenced by other variables. Meanwhile, the low contribution of service performance and passenger satisfaction was likely due to the fact that Trans Koetaradja passengers have private vehicles, which are considered more efficient. This can be seen from the respondents' trip frequency of only 1-2 times a week. To address this issue, integrated and accessible public transportation and mixed-use urban planning are needed in Banda Aceh to improve travel duration. It is hoped that these results can improve the public interest and loyalty to public transportation in their daily activities.
The presence of sidewalks is very important to support the safety, comfortability, and activities of pedestrians in CBD (Central Business District). Therefore, this study was conducted to analyze the service quality of the pedestrian lanes in two CBDs of Banda Aceh City using the Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) method. The results showed most of the service quality variables of the sidewalks are in quadrant A (concentrate here), followed by C (low priority), D (possible over-skill), and B (keep up the good work). This means the qualities of the sidewalk services need to be improved to ensure their performances are in line with pedestrians' expectations. This is necessary because most of the width and height of these sidewalks were found through field investigation not to meet government standards, whereas several obstacles were also discovered such as the presence of traders, merchandises, and parked vehicles, as well as the lack of seating facilities and disability lanes. These violations are part of the problems in many cities of Indonesia and other developing countries and are due to the lack of public awareness and supervision by the authorities. Therefore, further improvement is recommended to realize the expected pedestrian path.
Traffic congestion often occurs in many cities, particularly in developing countries, mainly due to excessive private vehicles instead of public transport. To solve the problem, public transport should improve its level of services to attract more people to use it. Therefore, it is essential to observe to what extent people's satisfaction with public transport regarding its operation. This research aims to analyze the satisfaction level of bus passengers in Banda Aceh City concerning the expected satisfaction and observed performance. The passengers' satisfaction level was analyzed using the important performance analysis (quadrant analysis) method. The results showed that people's perception of the level of service of Trans Koetaradja buses was still acceptable. However, the arrival and departure time still needs to be improved. Further, dedicated bus lane planning is essential to avoid traffic jams so that the travel time can be much shorter. The fleet of operating buses is sufficient, and free-of-charge fares still need to be applied.
