BIM changes the methods from conventional inefficient to integrated and collaborative processes. Various benefits and advantages of using Building Information Modeling (BIM) are integration between design and construction. In Indonesia, the use of BIM is part of government regulations for state buildings with an area above 2000 m2 and above two floors so that the use of BIM is increasingly widespread. However, the challenges of using BIM in Indonesia have to look for solutions so that the implementation can be improved. This article presents a review of the literature on the opportunities for using BIM and a review of case studies in developed countries as well as the challenges of case studies in Indonesia, namely the expansion of T1 at Juanda Airport Surabaya. Data is taken from secondary data in the form of literature review and secondary data of Juanda airport project documents and primary data from personal experience by the second author as the project coordinator of the T1 expansion planning for Juanda Airport Surabaya in the use of BIM in the project.

A shell is a structure with the force distribution in the entire surface of the shell. The free-form shells are the type of shells that are not fixed with particular curve shapes, such as a single curve or a double curve. Free-form shells are more flexible to follow the architect's imagination aided by using digital-computer aided design. The free-form shells are widely used in organic architecture which is an arch that wants closeness to nature, such as glass cover material. This article is a review of precedent studies of the design and construction aspects of the free-form shell with non-concrete material that supports the realization of organic architecture. The research method uses secondary data reference studies from various literature.
The developments of technology in realizing contemporary designs become a hot issue for the development of the mosque’s appearance and shape. The development of the shell building in the mosque which is quite attractive to the public was the construction of the Cologne Central Mosque in Germany in 2017. For the point of view that shape of the building is a new era in the use of shell structures in the mosque. The shell structure commonly used as a dome of the mosque that is used as a symbol of the mosque buildings in general use and continues to this day which began from the era of the caliphate. This paper will present a review of the structural designs and building materials on the shell structure of the mosque which has been developing from time to time. And can be used as a possible new reference in the future developments of mosque architecture.
