Na Bahia, o Candomblé se constitui numa associação sócio-político-religiosa que emergiu como estratégia para que africanos e crioulos não apenas dessem continuidade ao culto de divindades de origem africana, mas como contraponto às políticas coloniais. Assim, dá-se primazia a figuras femininas que dão corpos e vozes às comunidades religiosas, mediante os cargos que lhe são atribuídos quando não diretamente, legitimados pelas divindades. Uma dessas figuras é Gersonice Ekedy Sinha Azevedo Brandão, considerada uma educadora para a comunidade do Ilê Axé Iyá Nassô Oká. Importante para o aprendizado das mulheres que ali se encontram em processo de iniciação, Ekedy Sinha é, também, referência para aquelas que estão em nível hierárquico equivalente ao seu, por apresentar domínio de cânticos, danças e rituais. O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar uma breve autobiografia dessa líder religiosa a partir de suas memórias e reflexões pessoais sobre o ser e o fazer no âmbito do Candomblé. A metodologia aplicada foi a etnografia e resulta de um trabalho de campo que vem ocorrendo desde 2015. Conclui-se que o Candomblé baiano marca uma presença de vanguarda notadamente nas questões de gênero e que nos oferece estratégias e ações que implicam mudança das “formas hegemônicas de poder, ser e conhecer” mencionadas por Maldonado-Torres (2008:66).
Projeto do Império executado pela República e atualmente sob a tutela da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), o prédio-sede da Faculdade de Direito do Recife (FDR) se configurou, nos tempos do Regime Militar, em um emblemático exemplo do descaso que não raro acomete nossas heranças patrimoniais, não obstante a histórica vinculação daquela edificação com a elite socioacadêmica e política de Pernambuco (SANTOS, 2016). Berço da Universidade do Recife e do primeiro Reitor da UFPE, Joaquim Ignácio de Almeida Amazonas (1946 a 1959), o prédio de 110 anos se encontra atrelado à história e à memória dos cursos jurídicos e sociais criados em 1827. Entretanto, ameaçado à quase ruína – que motivou o tombamento federal e uma paliativa intervenção estrutural de modo a salvaguardá-lo –, foi apenas no início do século XXI que o prédio começou a se reerguer nas dimensões arquitetônica, histórica e memorial, graças às ações da gestão Luciana Grassano (2007-2015). Na primeira seção deste texto, por meio de registros fotográficos, o artigo destaca peculiaridades históricas e arquitetônicas do bem patrimonial que o assegura como monumento nacional brasileiro desde 1980. Na segunda seção, são expostas as ações da gestão Grassano, que implicaram o soerguimento institucional em seus aspectos memorial e histórico. Conclui-se que a ausência de política institucional que garanta a manutenção do patrimônio edificado e bens integrados no âmbito da UFPE viola a norma constitucional (RIBEIRO, 2016) e, se não ameaça, compromete a saúde e longevidade de bens patrimoniais como a FDR, ao deixá-los à mercê da idiossincrasia de efêmeros administradores.
