O texto acompanha as transformações no pensamento, nas práticas e nas políticas em cinema-educação para a infância e a juventude na América Latina a partir das diferentes motivações pedagógicas e inspirações metodológicas que impulsionaram o campo. Para tanto, examinamos pesquisas que mapeiam práticas em educação audiovisual no Brasil, refletimos sobre a criação e os encontros da Rede UNIAL em Cuba e da Rede KINO no Brasil e apresentamos referências de uma pesquisa que percorreu projetos audiovisuais em Havana. Nessa trajetória identificamos um elo metodológico comum que outrora propiciou o surgimento e a difusão de iniciativas em cinema-educação no continente e novas apropriações na relação do cinema com a educação que emergem de demandas e desafios contemporâneos.
Resumo O artigo compartilha uma experiência pedagógica com o cinema junto à disciplina psicologia da educação, oferecida para alunos de licenciaturas na Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Foram analisados dois trabalhos audiovisuais feitos após a proposta de imaginação sobre como seria o filme O garoto selvagem, de François Truffaut, se o relatório de inspiração para o roteiro fosse do personagem Victor e não do Dr. Itard. Para tanto, dialogamos com as contribuições recentes do campo de cinema-educação, do ensino de psicologia na formação de professores e do cinema. Neste contexto, a possibilidade de realizarmos experiências inventivas com o cinema no curso de psicologia se apresentou como práticas estéticas e políticas alternativas ao modelo curricular historicamente dominante nessa disciplina, o que nos permitiu identificar alguns impactos desse tipo de exercício na formação de professores, tais como a superação de apropriações pedagogistas do cinema, a legitimidade da imaginação na construção do conhecimento e articulações interdisciplinares.
