Objetivos. Analisar o comportamento da força muscular (FM) dos membros superiores e inferiores mais funcionais de pacientes com Síndrome Pós Poliomielite (SPP), através da análise dos dados obtidos em duas avaliações e verificar se houve variação da FM total nos membros estudados. Método. Estudo retrospectivo com coleta de dados de pacientes com SPP do Setor de Investigações nas Doenças Neuromusculares (SIDNM) da UNIFESP/EPM. Foram coletados resultados de duas avaliações do teste de FM manual classificado pela Medical Research Council (MRC) de 12 grupos musculares. Ao resultado final, foi aplicado o cálculo de porcentagem do teste MRC. Resultados. Não houve redução da FM avaliados pelo MRC entre a 1ª e 2ª avaliação. Tendo como base a amostra total do estudo, observou-se diminuição da FM de flexores de joelho. Quanto à FM total dos membros superiores, verificou-se que houve diminuição da FM total em três grupos de pacientes avaliados. Já nos membros inferiores, a FM manteve-se estável em três grupos avaliados. Conclusão. Observaram-se pequenas variações na FM dentro dos períodos acompanhados. A queixa da nova fraqueza muscular pode estar relacionada a outros fatores, como fadiga ou envelhecimento.
A comunicação buco-sinusal (CBS) é uma abertura patológica entre a cavidade oral e o seio maxilar que pode ocorrer no momento de extrações de dentes superiores posteriores. O tratamento clássico da CBS é o deslocamento de retalho muco-periostal de espessura total, o que pode causar um pós-operatório desconfortável ao paciente, além de alterar a anatomia do rebordo e reduzir a profundidade do vestíbulo, dificultando a reabilitação protética. Utiliza-se a Fibrina Rica em Plaquetas (PRF) como opção para o tratamento da CBS. O PRF é um biomaterial suturável que auxilia o processo de reparo tecidual, reduz o desconforto pós-operatório e preserva a anatomia do rebordo. O objetivo desse artigo foi descrever um caso clínico onde se utilizou o PRF para o fechamento imediato de CBS com diâmetro maior que 5mm após a extração de segundo molar superior. Verificou-se no pós-operatório clínico e por imagem o completo fechamento da CBS. Constatou-se que a utilização do PRF para o fechamento imediato de CBS é uma técnica viável, com vantagens como a redução da sintomatologia pós-operatória e manutenção da anatomia do rebordo.
