The learning method is one of the supporting techniques for the achievement of graduate competencies. One of the ways is e-learning, which is called online lectures. The research objective is to determine the effectiveness of online learning on student practicum skills. This type of research is a quasi-experiment with a post-test only control group design. The statistical test used is the Mann Whitney test. The results shows that online learning is effectively carried out to improve student practicum skills with p = 0.000. Online learning is useful for improving student practicum skills. Practical knowledge that is done online is a practicum that uses simple tools and can be done anywhere. Researchers feel it is necessary to do further research on the type of practicum that requires laboratory equipment to see its effectiveness in improving skills.
Students who take Midwifery Emergency Clinical Skills Course will have the opportunity to have skills in mastering some aspects of competencies needed in management related to obstetric emergencies. This research combines qualitative and quantitative research. The results of the study showed that there were mean differences between student learning outcomes in the Midwifery Emergency Clinical Skills course in the class 2015 and class 2016 with ρ value = 0.001. Qualitatively, data / information has been obtained from students that provide an overview of students' responses to the action of developing learning methods which has been done. Development of learning methods can fell up the learning outcomes of graduates by uniforming the abilities / competencies possessed by clinical instructors and students.
Assessment using rubrics can assess students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains when performing midwifery skills. Evaluation instrument analysis software has been developed a lot developed by Andalas University, namely, through web e-learning. The research objective was to produce an evaluation instrument for clinical skills learning. This type of research is research and development or Research and Development (R&D); the analysis used is the analysis of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The results of the percentage of product achievement validity from material experts are 100%, v = 1.00, and from media experts, 98.9%, v = 0.99 in the excellent category, the practicality test results from instructors are 96.1%. From students, 91% with the practical variety, the impact of passing scores between the intervention and control groups was 0,000. The median in the intervention group was three days, and the control group was nine days. The assessment instrument using a checklist on the e-learning page helps assess midwifery skills' learning outcomes, where the instructor can evaluate and provide feedback on each criterion of skills being tested and reduce the subjective assessment, the scores can be directly downloaded and submitted to the course coordinator.
The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR), which is still high and far from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) target, encourages midwives to increase promotive and preventive efforts in providing midwifery care and reproductive health. One of the efforts of midwives is to provide midwifery care based on Continuity of Care (CoC). Midwifery care covers the entire life cycle, from preconception, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, newborns, neonates, toddlers, adolescent preschoolers, and childbearing ages to the elderly. This sustainable care is expected to be able to explore the problems that exist in individuals and to overcome these problems by empowering husbands, families and communities. This activity aims to increase the number of better health degrees for women of childbearing age in every phase they go through, physically and psychologically/mentally, in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. The method was carried out by interviewing groups of women in the preconception period, groups of pregnant women, postpartum mothers, mothers who have babies and toddlers, and women of childbearing age. It involved Independent Practice Midwives in the Cities of Padang, Padang Panjang and Pariaman by providing communication, information, education, and counselling. Each group has increased knowledge of physical and psychological needs in every phase of their life and sufficient involvement of husband or family in pregnancy, postpartum and newborn phases. It is necessary to increase community empowerment in every phase to achieve health status in every cycle of a woman's life.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
