ResumoEsta dissertação visa produzir um texto que sirva de motivação para o ensino de geometria discreta, tanto para professores do ensino médio quanto para estudantes de licenciatura em Matemática. A partir de um levantamento bibliográfico, foram selecionados alguns problemas que inspiraram o desenvolvimento dessa subárea da matemática. Em meio à narrativa de episódios históricos, a uma introdução ao estudo de transformações geométricas do plano e de grafos e à retomada de alguns legados de Arquimedes, são destacados problemas que parecem apenas um simples enigma ou um quebra-cabeça, mas podem suscitar resultados relevantes em aplicações para diversas áreas.
