This study aims to analyze food expenditure among the community in Perak. There are three objectives targeted in this study including: 1) identify the level of food expenditure, 2) identify the relationship between demographic factors with food expenditure and 3) analyze the factors influencing food expenditure. This quantitative study used a set of questionnaire as an instrument to obtain the necessary information. A total of 206 respondents were involved in this study through snowball sampling. All selected respondents were heads of families living in the state of Perak. Descriptive analysis showed that the mean food expenditure was RM1,301.89. In addition, the findings of the study also showed that there was significant relationship between age and education with food expenditure. The significance value was 0.05, multiple regression analysis showed that consciousness, personal and religious factors were significantly positive while social factors were significantly negative. Media was found as the only factor that was not significant. In conclusion, food spending in the state of Perak is high and this situation is driven by many factors. This included the supply of food at affordable prices, the function of the authorities to promote food, high supply of ready and unfinished food and so on. The implications of the study have highlighted the importance of expenditure planning especially to every head of the family. This is important to ensure that the residents in Perak have sufficient knowledge on the selection of good healthy foods.
Tertiary education brings many benefits for individual, people, society and country. However, the accessibility to education is limited due to the cost. Nowadays, children need to take loan to finance their study at tertiary level and parents' saving considered as an alternative to finance children' education. Nevertheless, a key issues raise up now, which are do parents do saving for their future generation, how much they do saving, what are the medium of saving they use for save and what are the factors that contribute to their saving for children's tertiary education. Therefore, this paper focuses on three main objectives. The first objective: to identify parents' saving for children's tertiary education, second: to identify the medium of saving for children's tertiary education, third: to analyze the factors that contribute to the parents' saving for children's tertiary education. The findings indicated that 195 out of 260 parents that have children studying at tertiary level do saving for their children's tertiary education. Besides that, own saving accounts were identified as the most popular medium of savings for parents. The result of multiple regression analysis found that the independent variables which are income, people surrounding, expectation and institutions are significant positive. Whereas, awareness are not significant with parents' saving for children's tertiary education. As such, to encourage saving habits, all parties should work hard together to provide some saving scheme to help parents finance their children's education in future or financial plan to provide understanding about the important of saving.
This needs analysis study was undertaken to obtain a preview of the acceptance of Geo-Education Module as a new module in environmental education. This study focused on the needs of module building, the importance of knowing the natural ecosystem, the need for exposure to natural disasters and sustainable lifestyles. This study used a mixed method that combined quantitative and qualitative data. This design of quantitative research involved a survey through questionnaires distributed online. A total of 192 trainee teachers from the Institute for Teacher Education and Public University located in the north of peninsular Malaysia were selected. While the qualitative study involved interviews with five study participants. The findings showed that this module is in high demand for teaching environmental education and were important in providing information to teachers and students. The findings also indicated that the majority of respondents were aware of the aspects of environmental protection that are important to be applied in various fields of study. The importance of creating materials or modules that touch on current aspects is an ongoing step in developing future strategies for preparing for any natural disaster. The implications of developing modules in the current context were discussed in this study.
