Con el fin de conocer la distribución del vector de la enfermedad de Chagas Triatoma dimidiata en las poblaciones de Arrastradero y El Limón, se recolectó información pertinente sobre: características de las poblaciones, tipos de vivienda, presencia de hospederos, conocimiento de la enfermedad, existencia de pacientes con síntomas del padecimiento. La exploración entomológica fue realizada para identificar los hospederos potenciales del T. cruzi. Las poblaciones se caracterizaron por presentar promedios superiores a dos miembros, con viviendas predominantes de cemento, preexistiendo estructuras de caña Guadua. El conocimiento sobre la enfermedad fue mayor en el sector Arrastradero (3,56%), menor cantidad de vectores (8,59%) y viviendas con triatominos (4,28%). Mientras que la población de El Limón los resultados fueron 2,44; 11,23 y 4,41 % respectivamente. El vector encontrado correspondió al Triatominos dimidiata en sitios peridomésticos y domésticos, sin infección natural con T. cruzi. Se concluye que la presencia Triatoma dimidiata, no descarta la reinfestación con T. cruzi, por lo que se hace necesario mantener un plan de salud para minimizar los riesgos de la enfermedad de Chagas.
