This study aims to determine the effect of implementing a realistic mathematics education approach (PMR) on mathematics learning outcomes and self-confidence of grade VII students at SMP Negeri 4 Takalar. The type of research to be used is quantitative research with quasi-experimental methods. The classes to be studied are class VII B as the experimental class and class VII A as the control class. Data collection was carried out by providing instruments in the form of a pretest and self-confidence questionnaire to obtain initial data on students 'mathematics learning outcomes and self-confidence tests, then instruments in the form of posttest, and self-confidence questionnaires to obtain final data on students' mathematics learning outcomes and self-confidence. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS 25 program, which consists of descriptive and inferential statistical analysis, gain analysis, prerequisite tests, and hypothesis testing. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is an effect of implementing a realistic mathematics education approach on mathematics learning outcomes and students' self-confidence.
This study was a kind of ex-post facto research, which aimed to know whether intrapersonal intelligence and interpersonal intelligence affect students' mathematics learning achievement. The subjects of this study were grade eleven students majoring at natural science in one of Indonesia's senior high school, SMAN 1 Kalukku. The data were collected by an intrapersonal questionnaire, an interpersonal questionnaire, and learning achievement test. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Based on the descriptive analysis, it suggests that students' mathematics learning achievement are at the very high category, and their intrapersonal intelligence and interpersonal intelligence are consecutively at the high category. Meanwhile, based on the inferential analysis it can be suggested that (1) there is influence of intrapersonal intelligence together with interpersonal intelligence towards students' mathematics learning achievement, (2) there is influence of intrapersonal intelligence towards students' mathematics learning achievement by observing interpersonal intelligence, and (3) conversely, there is no influence of interpersonal intelligence towards students' mathematics learning achievement by observing intrapersonal intelligence.
the present paper describes the second year-research entitled the learning trajectory on mathematical proof of the students majoring in mathematics education. It applies the product of the first-year research namely the framework of the learning trajectory of mathematical proof and the design of its means in the topic of the real number system and the real number sequence. The present research aims at obtaining the mathematical proof steps in the learning trajectory which has been already set in the first-year research. Design research was determined as the research method aimed at, according to Gravemeijer (2013), developing a Local Instruction Theory (LIT). The LIT is expected to improve the quality of learning by developing the sequence of activities and understanding the empirical phenomena about how something works. In this research, the steps of mathematical proof were hypothetically designed i.e., (1) understanding the statement which will be proved, (2) deciding to choose either direct proof or indirect proof, (3) writing the proof specifically, and (4) verifying the validity of the proof. After the activities had been applied, retrospective analysis was undertaken to identify whether the stages were in line to the learning trajectory set in the first-year research. The learning trajectory itself includes: (a) proof with simple procedures of which the proof of a statement is done with single thinking procedure, (b) existential proof covering existential proof and non-existential fact or concept, (c) proof with complex thinking procedure, and (d) proof through construction, The findings suggest that the steps of the previously hypothesized proof occur with a support which is called scaffolding by visualizing a diagram of proof as the guide for writing the proof and there are still difficulties of writing the proof symbolically and describing mathematical argument which relates each step of the proof process.
The research objective were to build a mathematical model for Hepatitis B; Determine and analyse the equilibrium point of the model; Conduct a model simulation to predict the number of Hepatitis B cases and determine the solution for the spread of Hepatitis B in Makassar City. This research stage examines and builds a mathematical model on the spread of Hepatitis B which is a Susceptible-Exposed-Infected-Recovered-Infected (SEIRI) model; analysis of SEIRI model in Hepatitis B using mathematical Graph method; Model simulation using Maple Software with data assuming the number of Hepatitis B cases, then perform further analysis of the model. The result obtained is the SEIRI model for the spread of Hepatitis B, which is a non-linear differential equation model with 4 dimensions. Mathematical graph is used to determine the status of Hepatitis B, which is a disease-free or endemic case.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
