It takes a breakthrough for preschool teachers and kindergarten teachers to empower and synergize all their potential that already exists in their selves and the use of technology to achieve a fun, interesting and integrated English learning for young learners as a whole. One of the most interesting "edutainment" media that supports young learners' development in learning English is Interactive Computer. This is a set of combination of software containing English lesson for children and games; and is created in the form of interactive CD. By using this interactive CD, it will strengthen the teachers' creativities and innovations in providing qualified learning activities and learning materials. It will foster the children to learn more about English in a very fun way and drag them away from boredom during the teaching learning process. Teachers as an educator and parents as a children home-educator can find this CD easily in the market with an affordable price. Thus, the authors attempt to obtain training activities in order to foster teachers' creativity in using this interactive computer as an interesting media in learning English for young learners.
Vocabulary becomes an important aspect to learn because it is the tool to recognize words' meaning and sentences, and to create sentences, paragraphs and texts. In order to improve students' vocabularies, media are needed to help students memorize them. The aim of the research is to notice how effective Instagram filter in enhancing students' vocabulary comprehension. For this reason, teacher should find an innovative media for teaching vocabulary to students in most interesting way. Lately, Instagram becomes the most widely used social networking platform. Most people spend a lot of time scrolling on Instagram just to have fun, find some information, or even to get new friends. This platform is served with feed, stories, reel, IG TV and IG filter. This study employed IG filter to be used as a media to teach vocabulary to students. This is based on what the researchers observed that most students in schools, in this case is high school, like to play with Instagram filters. This what makes the researchers interested in using Instagram filter as a media for teaching vocabularies. This research is designed as quasi experiment which is held in one of senior high schools in Jepara. The findings reveal that IG filter is effective and successful to be used as a media for teaching vocabulary and to improve students' comprehension in vocabulary. The average score was in good category (86.33). While the N-gain score was 58.72% which is categorized as quite effective. It means that Instagram filters is quite effective as a learning media.
Glenn Doman is one of the fascinating learning medias for teaching vocabularies to children. This media fosters the students to memorize the words quickly, in this case is the English words. The children?óÔé¼Ôäós eagerness to learn can be fostered by applying this media of playing and learning in their spare time. Parents can easily adopt the media by making of their own, using the things in their surrounding. The quick children memorization can be occurred by showing the children the letters in the card and then asking the children to utter the words in the cards several times. This media has been acknowledged to Sendangguwo Women Association. Hafalan anak-anak cepat dapat terjadi dengan menunjukkan anak-anak huruf dalam kartu, kemudian meminta anak mengucapkan kata-kata dalam kartu beberapa kali. The objectives of this study are: 1) to find out the meaning of metaphorical symbols in Linkin Park’s song lyrics; 2) to find out the contribution of Linkin Park’s song lyrics to teaching poetry. In this study, the writer applies the descriptive qualitative approach in this study to analyze implicit meaning of metaphorical symbols used in Linkin Park’s song lyrics. Besides that, the writer wants to describe its contribution to teaching poetry. The finding show that the writer found 38 metaphorical symbols in the five Linkin Park’s song lyric. It consists of 4 symbols in the Numb, 14 symbols in Hands Held High, 5 symbols in What I’ve done, 5 symbols in New Divide, 10 symbols in Final Masquerade. Through using those song lyrics, the students can learn the figurative languages which can be found in those song lyrics, especially metaphorical symbols. The students can understand the meaning of the metaphorical symbols which can enrich their vocabulary through learn the examples of implicit meaning analysis in this study. So they are able to choose and combine the appropriate dictions. Finally, they will be able to create a good poetry which has deep and beautiful meaning. The writer suggests that the teachers should use an appropriate and interesting learning source in teaching writing and appreciating poetry. Song lyrics in Linkin Park consist of a lot of words, phrases, and sentences with the figurative language, especially metaphorical symbols which has implicit and deep meaning. Through delivering those songs lyrics, the students will get the inspiration and motivation in writing and appreciating poetry.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengindentifikasi berbagai kesalahan gramatikal berdasarkan Surface Strategy Taxonomy dan frekuensi kemunculannya serta untuk mengetahui berbagai macam problematika mahasiswa ketika menulis teks dalam bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif-kuantitatif dengan instrument berupa tes tertulis berbentuk esai dan kuesioner. Teks deskriptif berbahasa Inggris yang ditulis oleh mahasiswa semester tiga merupakan objek dari penelitian ini. Teks-teks tersebut kemudian dianalisis berdasarkan teori Surface Strategy Taxonomy yang dikemukakan oleh Dulay. Dari hasil analisis teks, peneliti menemukan 4 jenis kesalahan gramatikal yang sesuai dengan teori Dulay. 4 jenis kesalahan tersebut berupa Omission (68.31%), Addition (9.6%), Misformation (8.45%), dan Misordering (2.11%). Berbagai macam problematika yang dihadapi mahasiswa ketika menulis diantaranya adalah lemahnya pemahaman tentang tenses, lemahnya penguasaan vocabulary, pemilihan leksikal yang tidak tepat dala kalimat, dan penyusunan struktur kalimat yang salah dalam teks. Dalam hal ini, mahasiswa masih menuliskan teks dengan memakai struktur kalimat bahasa asli atau bahasa Indonesia. Kata Kunci: kesalahan gramatikal, deskriptif teks, Surface Strategy Taxonomy.
