En este documento se exploran las diferencias en la percepción del riesgo que presentan los habitantes de la ciudad de Mexicali, a partir de la clasificación de información obtenida mediante una encuesta que involucra variables relacionadas con el tipo de peligro, las características sociales de los sujetos, la vía de adquisición del conocimiento y las acciones preventivas que se realizan. Entre los resultados se obtuvieron cuatro grupos perceptuales: dos extremos (amplificadores y atenuadores) y dos intermedios (de percepción focalizada o selectiva), cuyas características particulares ameritan ser consideradas en materia de prevención de desastres.
En este artículo se exploraron los cambios ocurridos en la percepción social del paisaje de amenazas en la ciudad de Mexicali, México, en 2006 y 2011. Esto se llevó a cabo mediante la comparación del número y tipo de peligros que los habitantes reportaron en dos encuestas locales. Este ejercicio permitió clasificar los peligros en “constantes” y “cambiantes”, y también identificar, a través de la observación de su manifestación física en el espacio urbano, las pautas de invisibilidad social, que ameritan ser consideradas en las estrategias de prevención de desastres. AbstractThe article explores the changes in the social perception of hazardscape in the city of Mexicali, México in 2006 and 2011. This is done by comparing the number and type of hazards that residents reported in two local surveys. This exercise allowed classifying the hazards in “constant" and "changing" in social perception and, by observing their physical manifestation in the urban space, to identify patterns of social invisibility that deserves consideration in strategies for disaster prevention. En este documento se exploran cambios y permanencias en la percepción de los peligros del entorno de los habitantes de la ciudad de Mexicali, México, de 2011 a 2016. El análisis toma como base un estudio previo que identificó una percepción amplificada de peligros como efecto de la manifestación física de éstos en el lugar, y auguraba la atenuación de la percepción conforme la oferta de estímulos disminuyera o cesara. Este trabajo parte de tal supuesto para contribuir al análisis de un trayecto más amplio sobre la percepción de riesgo en la ciudad con énfasis en su dinámica y temporalidad. Para ese propósito, se comparó la información de dos encuestas locales acerca de las amenazas que los habitantes reconocen en el lugar y, a partir de indicadores de cambio, se identificaron los peligros permanentes y cambiantes en la percepción social, así como su manifestación física en la ciudad. Producto de este análisis, se detectó una disminución importante en la percepción social que puede resultar en la reducción de medidas preventivas y prácticas de seguridad en los hogares urbanos.
Este trabajo explora elementos de vulnerabilidad económica presentados por un sector industrial de Baja California durante la primera ola del COVID-19 en México. Para tal objetivo, se aplica el modelo de Presión y Liberación (PAR) mediante el cual se analiza la información obtenida a través de un panel de representantes del sector empresarial. Los resultados permiten identificar procesos y factores que explican la fragilidad (vulnerabilidad) del sector industrial ante eventos adversos como la pandemia de COVID-19.
