Em virtude de a Climatologia necessitar de uma série de dados consistente e sem falhas para análises climáticas e devido à grande quantidade de dados com falhas disponibilizados no Brasil, faz-se necessário avaliar métodos de preenchimento de falhas para viabilizar a utilização de séries longas de dados. O artigo objetiva avaliar qual método de preenchimento de falhas é mais adequado para estações meteorológicas localizadas no estado do Paraná. Para tanto, foram testados quatro métodos de preenchimento de falhas aplicados a 10 estações meteorológicas do Estado, integrantes de cinco regiões homogêneas de precipitação. Os métodos testados foram IDW, Inverso da Distância, Média e Ponderação Regional. Foram suprimidos os dados diários de anos classificados como habituais pelo método gráfico cronológico de tratamento da informação (MGCTI) e posteriormente preenchidos com os métodos sob análise. Posteriormente os valores preenchidos foram comparados com os valores removidos (registrados na estação). O método de preenchimento de falhas que demonstrou melhor associação com os dados registrados foi o IDW, seguido da Média. De forma geral os métodos de preenchimento de falhas testados subestimam os valores diários superiores a 20mm e superestimam os menores de 20mm, sendo que o IDW foi o que mais se aproximou dos valores acima de 40mm. Os métodos tiveram mais sucesso em preencher falhas nas estações da faixa sul do Estado, enquanto nas estações próximas ao litoral foram registradas as maiores diferenças entre os valores preenchidos e registrados.
Londrina, um município com um pouco mais de 80 anos e localizado no norte do estado do Paraná, conta com uma população superior a meio milhão de habitantes (IBGE, 2010). A produção do espaço urbano do município contribui para que os ambientes construídos absorvam de forma distinta a energia provinda do Sol, configurando em microclimas. Seguindo essa hipótese, o objetivo da presente pesquisa foi averiguar a variação da temperatura do ar, com a temperatura em ambientes construídos. Para tanto, foram instalados um datallogers no interior de uma residência na região sul da área urbana de Londrina, e uma estação meteorológica automática, na área externa da residência, programados para armazenaram dados referentes à temperatura a cada hora. Para averiguação da variação, esses dados foram comparados com os obtidos do IAPAR, para o período de uma semana, do mês de janeiro de 2015. Por meio da análise dos dados foi possível verificar que as médias das temperaturas da residência (área interna e externa) apresentam em média 3ºC mais elevados que os dados do IAPAR, e que a diferença entre a parte interna com a parte externa da residência possuem uma diferença que atinge até 12ºC ao longo dos dias.
As discussões sobre as variações climáticas estão cada vez mais presentes nos discursos científicos. Para a Climatologia Geográfica as principais indagações recaem sobre qual a influência dessas possíveis variações sobre as atividades econômicas desenvolvidas pela sociedade. Com um aumento de mais de 10.000% na área de produção de milho safrinha (ou milho 2ª safra) em Londrina (PR), no período de 1985 a 2013 e, sendo o clima um dos principais reguladores da produção agrícola, verificou-se a necessidade de elaborar um estudo que procure entender a influência de possíveis variações climáticas sobre essa cultura. Por meio da comparação dos dados de totais mensais de precipitação pluviométrica e do total de produção, área de plantio, colheita e perda de milho safrinha, obtidos por meio do IAPAR e SEAB/DERAL, com a utilização de métodos estatísticos foi possível estabelecer uma relação entre períodos com diminuição dos totais mensais de chuva, que resultaram em quedas de produção de milho 2ª safra em Londrina (PR).
