RESUMEN El artículo discute los efectos del mercado educativo en Chile en la subjetivación de los jóvenes en su egreso de la enseñanza media y paso a la educación superior y/o al mercado laboral. Con un abordaje teórico que combina conceptos de Foucault sobre gubernamentalidad y subjetivación, y de la tradición marxista respecto de la mercantilización, se analiza bajo un esquema cualitativo de panel 40 entrevistas semiestructuradas de jóvenes de dos regiones. Se concluye que las trayectorias educativas suponen una experiencia altamente constituyente de subjetividad a la vez alienante, dando lugar a un malestar subjetivo que expresa tanto el problema de la segregación como de la crisis existencial con la extrema cosificación del tiempo de vida que la educación de mercado impone.
<p>Este artículo explora la subjetivación que experimentan los sujetos en sus elecciones y trayectorias educativas, en el contexto de una sociedad neoliberal avanzada como la chilena. Nos basamos en dos proyectos de investigación de carácter cualitativo, que han seguido las elecciones educativas de padres sobre sus hijos y de jóvenes sobre su futuro postsecundario. Con la transformación estructural que impulsa el giro neoliberal, surgen nuevos sectores populares en un contexto de amplia mercantilización de las relaciones sociales, que alcanza a la educación y la configura bajo la lógica del mercado. En tal dinámica, las elecciones educativas y su inscripción subjetiva —lo que hemos denominado <em>mercadeo educativo—</em> permiten advertir un panorama nuevo de estratificación social. Las elecciones educacionales, aparentemente autónomas, van marcando la estratificación real y nueva de la sociedad. Este mercadeo educativo se proyecta como nexo entre estructura y subjetividad, formando a los sujetos en una alta individualización de su reproducción social.</p>
