020ChemInform Abstract In the course of the exothermic reduction reaction of V2O5 by H2 to yield V2O3, various intermediates with the general composition VnO2n-1 with 4 ≤ n ≤ 8 are observed. As in the case of CO reduction the sample morphology seems to affect the ate of reduction. The powder samples are shown to react more slowly than the platelets below 460 rc C while at higher temp. the order is reverse. Compared with the CO reduction, the H2 reduction is faster. The Avrami-Erofeev equation with n = 4 can be used to describe he reduction of powders, whereas the reduction of platelets follows a first-order kinetic equation.
ChemInform Abstract The final product of the reduction of V2O5 by CO is V2O3, while V6O13 and VO2 are observed to be formed as intermediates. The kinetics can be described by the Avrami-Erofeev equation with n = 4 for V2O5 powder samples and n = 2 for platelets. The reaction starts on the surface and then moves towards the center of the V2O5 crystal (DAT, TG, powder XRD, electron and optical mocroscopy).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
