Test IgG) procedures. The results are compared wilh the microscopic detection, the urease test in biopsy specimen and the histological findings. 104 patients participated in this study. The results did not ciearly identify one of the diagnostic procedures applied äs superior to the others. Due to the lack of a "golden Standard", 2 physicians independently split 73 patients in 2 groups by considering all available data. The postive group had an acute gastritis with high probability caused by heücobacter pylori, the negative group was not relevantly affected by hdicobacter pylori. According to this classification the sensitivity of the quantitative antibody determination was 91% (specificity 96%) and higher than with the other procedures. The specificity was highest with the microscopic detection (sensitivity 70%).
