The surface tensions over temperature ranges of about 200" have been ineasurcd for pure molten salts and the following systems : NaN03fNaN02, KN03fKNQ2, NaNQ3f AgN03, KN03fAgN03, PbC12SNaCl and KCl+NaI. Parachor and Eotvoes' constant considerations cannot be applied validly to molten salts. The surface heat content per unit area is a useful, temperature-independent quantity which can be used to compare molten salts. For mixtures, the surface heat of mixing has been calculated for the above systems and for the RbClSPbCl2 and CdC12+KCI systems. This property gives further evidence for the formation of complex ions in certain systems.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
