Strychnos Ignatii.Von F. A. Fliickiger und Ed. Schar.Tor einiger Zeit hat der eine von uns, gemeinschaftlich mit A. Meyer, in der Abhandlung ,,Notes on t h e f r u i t of S t r y c hn o s I g n a t i i " , a an der Hand frischen, von den Philippinen erhaltenen Xateriales die morphologischanatomischen Verhaltnisse der Frucht und der Samen der genannten Pflanze geschildert, auch die Einfiihrung der Ignatiusbohne im Abendlande , sowie die Geschichte unserer beziiglichen Kenntnisse eriirtert. In letzterer Beziehung wurde bedauert, dass eine regelrechte , wissenschaftliche Beschreibung der Stammpflanze noch nicht miiglich sei, vielmehr die liickenhaften Beschreibungen der bisherigen Literatur auf den diirftigen , vor 2 Jahrhunderten von Ray und P e t i v e r veriiffentlichten Mittheilungen des Paters Georg Joseph Kame1 beruhten, so auch die von B e r g i u s (Materia medica, Stockholm 1778, p. 149) gegebene Beschreibung der P h n z e , deren von demselben gewiihlte Benennung ,, S t r y chnos I g n a t i i " als historisch berechtigt Geltung behalten muss.
