Las microempresas en el Ecuador representan el 90,78% del total de empresas, significando un conjunto de organizaciones de vital importancia para el país, destacándose el aporte en lo económico como al empleo. Pero al igual que cualquier otra empresa, la competencia en un mundo globalizado es el punto clave para lograr la supervivencia y continuidad en el tiempo. Es en este marco que se estudió el grado de competitividad de las microempresas dentro del Cantón Manta - Ecuador. Por ello se realizó un estudio descriptivo, de base cuantitativo, a fin de medir la percepción de los empresarios de microempresas a través de la adaptación de un instrumento de medición comprobado. Las características y particularidades que se han mostrado a lo largo de esta investigación se complementan en lo teórico y práctico, en cuanto a la informalidad, baja capacitación, poca planificación, dificultades financieras, entre otros. El comportamiento de los datos demuestra una proporción dos a uno en las respuestas de acuerdo con relación a las de en desacuerdo, midiendo de esta manera una competitividad aceptable por parte de las microempresas en Manta.
Esta investigación busca conocer desde el punto de vista de los estudiantes de las universidades públicas de Manabí, el comportamiento exteriorizado de estas Instituciones de Educación Superior (IES) en cuanto a diferentes accionares, en el aspecto interno y externo. Guiados por los ámbitos de responsabilidad social proporcionados por el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) se busca lograr el objetivo general de medir, a través de uno de sus grupos de interés como son los estudiantes. El sentir en cuanto a los roles de estas IES públicas manabitas; para ello se realizaron encuestas con una muestra de 416 estudiantes. Se concluyó que los estudiantes determinan un rol protagónico y favorable de las universidades públicas en tres ámbitos fundamentales como son: Campus Responsable, Formación Profesional y Ciudadana, y Participación Social Palabras clave: administración, Responsabilidad Social, Universidad, Ecuador
El propósito de este artículo es analizar la realidad de las pequeñas y medianas empresas (PYMEs) ecuatorianas, como motor principal del tejido productivo de la economía del país; durante el desarrollo del trabajo se efectuará un diagnóstico de la situación de esta tipología de empresas dentro del contexto social, económico, comercial, financiero e internacional en el que se desenvuelven. La importancia del tema de investigación se ve reflejado en la participación del sector de la PYME en el desarrollo de la economía, así como al fomento del empleo directo e indirecto que genera. También se determinó la necesidad de la mejora que es necesaria en el sector a fin de poder internacionalizar sus productos y servicios, donde la incorporación de la innovación, la tecnología en todos sus procesos y el apoyo del crédito público y privado son de vital importancia. En cuanto al método de investigación de base para este trabajo, es del tipo descriptivo, en tanto que a través de la revisión bibliográfica se busca describir la situación de las PYMEs del Ecuador y la caracterización actual de los cuatro parámetros objetos de estudio.
