Resumo -O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar parâmetros biofísicos de superfície do Bioma Pantanal com a aplicação de geotecnologias. Foram utilizados o algoritmo Sebal ("surface energy balance algorithm for land"), imagens do sensor Modis ("moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer") e o mapa de classes de uso e cobertura da terra. Os resultados obtidos para NDVI, temperatura da superfície, albedo, fluxo de calor sensível diário, saldo de radiação diário e evapotranspiração real diária foram consistentes com dados de literatura para os diferentes usos e cobertura da terra, e corroboram a eficiência da capacidade analítica e sinóptica das estimativas do Sebal. Tais resultados mostram o potencial de geotecnologias na implementação de modelos ou algoritmos voltados para a compreensão da dinâmica de processos biofísicos de interação solo-planta-atmosfera do Pantanal.Termos para indexação: balanço de energia, ciclo hidrológico, interação solo-planta-atmosfera, Sebal, uso e cobertura da terra. Geotechnologies applied to the assessment of biophysical parameters of the Pantanal biomeAbstract -The objective of this work was to evaluate surface biophysical parameters of the Pantanal biome, Brazil, by the application of geotechnologies. The Sebal algorithm, Modis imagery, and land use and land cover map were used. Esse bioma tem a maior área contínua inundável do planeta, com ciclo de alagamento anual que abrange aproximadamente 30% do seu território.O regime de inundações é o fator ecológico fundamental do Bioma Pantanal, que determina os pulsos de seus principais processos bióticos e abióticos, e as composições específicas das unidades de paisagem (Adami et al., 2008). Daily actual evapotranspiration in sub-basins of Paracatu using Modis sensor productsEvapotranspiration defines the total loss of water from the soil-plant system to the atmosphere. In agricultural areas, particularly under some form of irrigation, the remote sensing-based determination of evapotranspiration is gaining increasing importance, since it provides a measure of water use efficiency. In this context, this study aimed to estimate the daily actual evapotranspiration (ETr) using MODIS sensor products in the sub-basins of Entre Ribeiros creek and Preto river, between the states of Goiás and Minas Gerais. The Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL) was used to obtain the ETr in four different days from July to October, 2007. The results were consistent with other reports in the literature and the comparison between the evapotranspiration by SEBAL and crop evapotranspiration (ETc) showed that this algorithm can be a good option to estimate the daily evapotranspiration using MODIS sensor products in the conditions of the sub-basins of Entre Ribeiros creek and Preto river.Key words: soil heat flux, sensible heat flux, river basins, remote sensing. A evapotranspiração define a perda total de água do sistema solo-planta para a atmosfera. Nas áreas agrícolas, particularmente onde se pratica algum tipo de irrigação, a determinação da evapotranspiração, por via de sensoriamento remoto, vem ganhando cada vez mais importância, pois possibilita identificar a eficiência com que a água tem sido utilizada. Nesse contexto, este trabalho tem o objetivo de determinar a evapotranspiração real diária (ETr diária ), com a utilização de produtos do sensor MODIS, nas sub-bacias do Ribeirão Entre Ribeiros e Rio Preto, que ficam entre os Estados de Goiás e Minas Gerais. O SEBAL (Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land) foi utilizado para a obtenção da ETr diária em quatro dias diferentes, no período de julho a outubro de 2007. Os resultados encontrados foram compatíveis com os citados em outras literaturas e a comparação entre a evapotranspiração, obtida pelo SEBAL, e a evapotranspiração da cultura (ETc) demonstraram que esse algoritmo pode ser utilizado como boa opção para determinar, com a utilização de produtos do sensor MODIS, a evapotranspiração diária nas condições das sub-bacias do ribeirão Entre Ribeiros e rio Preto.Palavras-chave: fluxo de calor no solo, fluxo de calor sensível, bacias hidrográficas, sensoriamento remoto.

Water availability control may be relevant regarding the rational use of water resources. Thus, the objective of this work was to use remote sensing techniques as a tool to assist the control of the decendial difference between precipitation and evapotranspiration (S p) in sub-basins of the Paracatu River. Negative values of Sp were observed in almost the complete study area, therefore, indicating that the region was in the dry season. In terms of water balance, the k nowledge of the spatial-temporal of the Sp component can help the planning and control of water resources in watersheds with strong water demand by irrigated agriculture. It is recommended the execution of field validations by installing towers for measure ments of the components of the energy balance, as well as the monitoring of the development and growth phases of the crops in association with water balance for each type of use of the land.

Although sludge piles from drinking water treatment plants can contain harmful substances, in many countries, their disposal methods are still unregulated. Besides aluminum, which is a major constituent in these residues, many other contaminants-like trace metals-can be present and may result from the quality of the raw materials used for water treatment. The application of these chemicals for the treatment of drinking water can generate toxic sludge and contaminate the produced water. In the present work, mercury contamination in the sludge piles of two drinking water treatment plants located along the margins of the Juturnaíba Reservoir, Southeast Brazil, was evaluated to verify whether contaminants are incorporated during water treatment. In the summer 2012, five cores were collected from the piles, and were analyzed for Eh, granulometry, total carbon, total nitrogen, and total mercury. The results indicated an anoxic environment, reflecting composition of the suspended matter. Carbon and nitrogen presented elevated concentrations, but also seemed to reproduce the characteristics of the suspended matter in the raw water. The concentrations of mercury were extremely variable but presented unexpectedly high values in some of the layers, reaching 18,484 ng g. On the other hand, concentrations ten times lower than those observed in the natural system (8 ng g) could be observed. It was concluded that the only possible source for the contamination of the sludge was the chemicals used for water treatment.

Os objetivos deste estudo são: i) verificar a variabilidade anual e mensal da chuva, e ii) avaliar a ocorrência do Índice de Precipitação Padronizada, nas escalas de tempo de três (SPI-3) e doze (SPI-12) meses, no município de Chapada Gaúcha, MG. Foi utilizada uma série de 26 anos (1990-2015) de dados de precipitação coletados numa propriedade rural. O SPI-3 representou os trimestres de janeiro a março, abril a junho, julho a setembro e, outubro a dezembro, e o SPI-12 representou os meses de janeiro a dezembro. A análise descritiva e exploratória da série temporal de chuva permitiram identificar a ocorrência de chuvas inferiores as medianas nos meses de janeiro e novembro, e que a estação chuvosa ocorre entre os meses de outubro a março, indicando uma baixa variabilidade temporal mensal da chuva no município. Entretanto, a utilização do índice SPI para diferentes escalas permitiu identificar que existe o predomínio da classe “próximo da normal” na distribuição trimestral (SPI-3) e anual (SPI-12). Na escala trimestral (SPI-3), considerando o período entre julho e setembro, houve o maior número de eventos da classe “extremamente seco”.
