For more than three decades, domestic rice production was not able to meet its growing demand and showed in poor performance. This research aims to analyze the performance of rice farming in West Kalimantan. The research was conducted using descriptive methods through interviews. The data was analyzed to describe farmer personal character, skill and knowlwdge, risk analysis, and technical efficiency employing stochastic frontier model. This study proved that farmer had 3 to 6 years of pupilage attainment; used rainfed; widely used Ciherang seeds; most of them had 0.25-1.25 ha; only 20% of rice farming could achieve over 6.5 tons/ha. The distribution of technical efficiency showed that only 17.41% of rice farmer is able to achieve sufficient; while 60-70% of technical efficiency is achieved by 30.37% of rice farmer. However, the risk of production, prices, and income each was than 0.5.
This study aims to analyze the production risk of rice farm and compare production risk betwen wetland rice farm and field rice farm. The method used in this study is deskriptive and quantitative method. The location is determined by purposive. Data obtained through interviews with160 randomly simple rice farmers. The method used is just and pope production of multiple linear regression analysis with cobb douglas method and t test analysis. The results of this research were: the model showed that the factors such as land width, seeds, urea fertilizers, pesticides and quantity of family labours had a real influence to the increase of the wetland rice farm production. While NPK fertilizers, age and education of farmers did not influence to (non-significant) the increasing of rice production. The model used in this research had showed that land width, pesticides, quantity of family labours and age of farmers had a real influence to the increase of the field rice farm production. While seeds and education farmer did not influence to (non-significant) the increasing of rice production. Compare production risk between wetland rice farm and field rice farm showed real difference. Keywords: Risk, Production, Rice Farm, wetland and field.
The focus of PKM is the "Sumber Lestari" farmer group in Rasau Jaya Village, which is a transmigration area as the Integrated Integrated Zone. Still, farmers in farmer groups do not have farm record so that the difficulty in managing and making optimal farming decisions. This condition is caused by low performance of farmers' skills and risk of farming competencies. Furthermore, farmer groups are only intuitively emphasizing the cost of agricultural production inputs for the most effective farming decisions because of the absence of farm records. Therefore, PKM is tried to give knowledge and training of farm record and farming risk evaluation to achieve the optimal of farming management. The results are shown that the effectiveness ratio is quite effective so that there is still a gap between knowledge and skills that must be followed by the role of local government through continuous monitoring and guidance on the development of processed products to increase the income of surrounding farmers
