Purpose Bibliometric analysis allows examining a large volume of bibliometric data within an objective perspective. The purpose of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis to reveal the current status of human resource management (HRM) studies while exploring research trends and future directions. Design/methodology/approach Web of Science was chosen to identify studies in the field. In total, 1,404 articles were selected for bibliometric analysis. The VOSviewer program was used to analyze and visualize obtained data. Findings The findings revealed that the most frequently used keywords were job satisfaction, hospitality, tourism, HRM and work engagement. Karatepe and Baum were the most cited authors and Inoue (2011), Felps (2009), Shaw (2011), Gursoy (2008) and Cooper (2006) were the most cited documents in HRM studies in the hospitality and tourism domain. Research limitations/implications The study provides some theoretical and practical implications. The study findings can give researchers and practitioners insights into the current position of HRM studies and trend topics. Besides, it can be used as a practical guide for determining potential gaps in the literature. Originality/value This study contributes to the literature by bringing HRM studies in the hospitality and tourism fields together and revealing the current position of the inquiry by determining the most cited authors, articles, journals, organizations and collaborations among authors.
Purpose –The objective of the study is to reveal the relationships between aesthetic labour performance of female employees and their burnout level. Additionally, their aesthetic labour performance is to be compared in terms of their demographic characteristics and personal characteristics. Design – To test the proposed hypotheses, a correlational research design was used and a causalcomparative design was adopted to compare the aesthetic performance of frontline employees in terms of their demographic and personal characteristics. Methodology- Quantitative research methods were used in this study. Findings – The results showed that there was a significant, weak, and negative relationship between aesthetic labour performance in guest interactions factor and employee burnout levels. Additionally, there were significant differences in female frontline employees’ aesthetic labour performance in terms of their demographic and personal characteristics as education, tourism educational background, monthly average income and departments. Originality of the Research – Aesthetic labour is an important concept for the hospitality industry. Yet, there are few studies designed to figure out the aesthetic labour levels of employees in hospitality enterprises. Furthermore, there are limited studies focusing on the relationship between aesthetic labour and burnout. This study aims to fill a gap in the literature by developing a scale to assess female frontline employees’ aesthetic labour performance and providing large-scale survey data.
The purpose of the research is to reveal locals’ perceptions and attitudes toward tourism development in thermal tourism destinations, as well as to determine whether these perceptions and attitudes differ depending on the socio-demographic characteristics of the participants. Accordingly, seven hypotheses were constructed. The population of the research is formed by residents living in thermal tourism cities in the North Aegean Region. The study was designed as quantitative, and the survey method was used as the data collection tool. Using the convenience sampling method, 827 questionnaires in total were collected from locals living in Afyonkarahisar, Denizli, and Kütahya between the 1st and 30th of December 2018. To analyze the data, confirmatory factor analysis, descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and correlation analysis were used. According to the results obtained, it was determined that more than half of the participants interacted with tourists often or very often. In the research, it was also found that there were partial significant differences in terms of gender, age, marital status, education, monthly income and duration of residence in the city and level of interaction with tourists.
The main purpose of the study is to determine the effects of tour guides’ self-efficacy levels and their autonomy perception levels on their job crafting behaviours. It is also aimed to determine their job crafting, self-efficacy, and autonomy perception levels. Besides, comparing guides’ job crafting behaviours in terms of their personal properties and demographic characteristics is also conducted within the framework of the study. Data were collected from 203 tour guides via survey method. Multiple linear regression analysis results showed that self- efficacy and autonomy perceptions of tour guides had an effect on their job crafting behaviours. Besides, job crafting, self-efficacy, and autonomy levels of tour guides were high. Lastly, there were significant differences in job crafting behaviours of tour guides in terms of their ages, license types, experiences, and active days at work in a year.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
