Talking about education, firstly, education is a conscious effort in realizing the learning process in order to make students actively develop their potential to be able to have noble character, intelligence and personality that are good for themselves and society. Along with the development in the world of education that continues to change rapidly or develop rapidly which can change the mindset of educators, from being rigid to modern. That is very influential to education. The main purpose of education is to produce or make someone to have quality, knowledge and character, so that he has a broad view to get the desired ideals and to be able to adapt in environment. Education provides motivation to be a good person in all aspects of life. Education itself is a very important thing in human life. Therefore all citizens have right to get good quality of education. In education the role of a teacher is very important. A teacher is an educator, a teacher and an example for his students. Teaching is a very complicated matter, not as easy as we imagine when teacher is teaching, he must know each character of the students. In addition the teacher must also prepare designs before conducting the teaching and learning process. The teacher must think of ways that are used to increase students’ interest in learning and improve the quality of teaching. With the rapid development of technology, teachers must be able to use these technological developments in the teaching and learning process in the classroom. So that there will be no lag in that development. In the teaching and learning process the teacher only uses the monotonous lecture method that will reduce students’ interest in learning because students may feel bored or think it is not interesting for them. Therefore the teacher is able to apply the technology in learning. It is usually known as Educational Technology. Educational Technology is a medium that is used as a tool in education or the learning process to be more effective, and can be easily observed by students. The purpose of this Educational Technology is as a media to solve problems in learning that can improve learning performance. So that it can increase learning interest for students. Educational technology also help teachers in making media used in the learning process, so that students can attract the desire to learn. By Educational Technology, teachers can create media that enable them to apply the material presented with images on the internet. The material can be presented through videos or stories on YouTube. It is the same as making a TTS column from this technology the teacher can make questions through this TTS. So there is a touch of games in learning. This can increase students’ desire to learn. In addition, this can also make students more active and critical in learning activities.
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of STEM-based learning to train Z generation students' 21st century skills in science learning. This research is a kind of meta-analysis research. The research sample came from an analysis of 16 reputable national and international journals. Data search was obtained through the Google Scholar database, Springer, Hindawi and Eric. Data screening was carried out strictly and thoroughly. The sampling technique is a purposive sampling technique. The data used as the research sample has a relationship with the independent variable and the dependent variable, namely the effectiveness of STEM-based learning on the 21st century skills of Generation Z students in learning science. Data analysis is a qualitative and quantitative data analysis technique by calculating the value of the effect size (ES), the average value and the N-Gain assisted by the JSAP application with the sig value criteria. 0.05. The results showed that the application of STEM-based learning was effective in training the 21st century skills of Genera Z students in science learning with an effect size (ES) value of 1.47 and an N-gain of 0.86 in the high category
This article was to determine the voice of the international community in responding to the challenges of school closure policies during the 2019 Covid-19 pandemic. Effort to break the chain transmission of Covid-19 was believed to be closely related to the closure of all business activities including schools around the world. In order to understand the impacts and challenges of school closure, a series of critical searches were undertaken on various online sources, for instance news updates publications, practitioners, and school reactions to unplanned global policies to obligate students learning from home. The collecting data was analyzed using a qualitative phenomenological approach and in-depth interpretation to at the collective voice fulfills the reliability and validity of the research problem. The findings indicated that 16 international voices from different perspectives show relatively deep concern about school closures. Voices from these discussions were matched with existing questions and knowledge about difficulties resulting from school closures. The findings of this study can be categorized into three votes; First are voices in support of the national school closure policy. Second, questioning national policies without prior data. Third, there is concern that families face serious challenges in supporting children learning from home with low facilities and the ability to handle student needs. Therefore, these voices would provide essential insights for further decision-making regarding community school participation in supporting of government in fighting the coronavirus epidemic. Hence, a similar study was needed as additional research evidence that helps the government anticipate the spread of this deadly virus, especially in countries and regions experiencing different impacts. Teaching to promoting critical thinking expertise is very significant for providing students to reside in the worldwide era. Critical thinking is scholarly expertise that needs direction and practice, especially for elementary school students. The lack of teachers’ skills and ability in choosing appropriate learning model in natural science learning for promoting critical thinking for students is one of the reasons to done this study. This study aims to observe and describe the improvement of the students’ critical thinking at class IV, appearing in natural science learning after implementing RADEC model in class IV SD Negeri Surialaya, Tasikmalaya, West Java as shown from the student’s comments. This research applied a descriptive method. The instrument of the research was the observation sheets of students’ critical thinking and teachers’ activities in boosting critical thinking and of course the researcher himself. The data gathered through observation. The results showed that elementary science teachers did not orient to improving critical thinking among students, as very little of the classroom students showed in critical thinking skills. The developed model this study provides can use as a tool to assess science classes regarding improving critical thinking of the elementary school students.
This classroom action research was motivated by the students’ low scientific process skills, learning motivation, and cognitive learning outcomes in natural science. One of the reasons is the lack of teachers’ ability in choosing appropriate learning approach and using of Kit or learning science equipments in natural science learning. Thus, the implementation of Environmental approach with science Kit Seqip to students of class V at SD Negeri 13 Salak Sawahlunto city is one of the ways to solve this problem. The objective of this research is to describe the improvement of the students’ scientific process skills, learning motivation and cognitive learning outcomes in natural science at class V at SDN 13 Salak Sawahlunto by using Environmental approach with science Kit Seqip. The instruments of this research were the observation sheets of students’ scientific process skills and teachers’ activities, the test sheets of students’ cognitive learning outcomes, and the questionnaire sheets of student’ learning motivation. The results showed that there was a significant improvement of students’ scientific process skills, cognitive learning outcomes and learning motivation in natural science class V by using Environmental approach with science Kit Seqip from the first cycle to the second cycle.words.
